How so? Defense is a team game. Bryzgalov shouldn't be blamed without the team. - NJFlyersFan
Then why the crack about hurting Bryzgalov's feelings? That sure sounded like a slam at Bryz (or those defending him). |

One should know defense is a team effort and you can't blame one player... unless he's Matt Carle |

First you slam Bryz along with those defending him, and then you say that the defense is the problem, then you say how you can't blame one without the other....

Ok. You don't get how that comment came off. It sounded in that post like you were blaming Bryz and making fun of people who felt as you apparently do. |

Good News for Homer, not a lot of player to re-sign this summer. Plenty to hand out possible extensions but not many to worry about walking. No offense to Matt Carle but I do think it's for the best that we use his money else where. I also think it's for the best to do the same with Jagr. Then again, who's the biggest pure sniper on the market this summer? - roenick97
It's an absolute must to let Carle walk and use the possible 6 million else where. I also think the Flyers need to get the idea of playing with Teemu and Koivu in Kimmo's mind and then see if we can plant the idea in Anaheim's mind that Selanne might play another year if the three Fin's are together. |

No, I really do believe Bryzgalov is a great goalie when he gets support from his team. Like most great goalies do. |

I was also thinking that maybe it's time to walk away from Briere or Timonen. I don't think it's outside of the realm of possibility that Timonen might want a trade to a real cup contender (Not saying we're not). Selfishly though, should we walk away from these types of player, the void would have to be filled. Timonen is our number one defenseman and Briere is the league's leader in points in the playoffs since the New NHL began. There isn't a single person here who could deny that he's money in the playoffs. I think he's a tough player to walk away from no matter how much money he makes.
I would love somehow get Chris Stewart and Shea Weber this off season and let Carle and Jagr walk. However, you've got to give to get.
I'd also consider buying out Shelley and signing a much cheaper and younger fighter. |

Timonen to Anaheim for a 2nd. Carle's rights for a 3rd. Waive Shelley. Sign Suter. Trade JVR and Anaheim's 2nd for Brent Seabrook thus giving Chicago approximately 1.2 mill more in cap space for a goalie and a hell of a forward. |

Not what I'm looking for if trading JVR, but I don't know if Chicago would be willing to trade Seabrook. |

I am OK with him having a regular spot as long as he keeps the stupids to a low level. |

Agreed. I've always been of this school of thought.
The only problem is that his stupids have definitely been cut down, but he still gets called for a ridiculous amount of phantom rep calls that sometimes render him useless, especially in the playoffs.
Shame really.... |

Except Chicago needs D, and are going to be offering a monster contract to Suter themselves. |

One other thing I noticed...and this is NOT an excuse, but merely an observation-
The hockey gods were against us this series. Yes, we all know that our play was subpar, to put it lightly, but did anyone else notice all the bounces went the Devils' way ALL series?? From Briere's post tonight to less noticeable things, like a breakout pass hopping over a Flyer's stick, hitting the boards, and right to a devil mid stride.
Like I said- not an excuse. Hell, the axiom "you make your own luck" could apply here. These lucky bounces could just be a byproduct of a hard working Devils team flying all over the ice....regardless, the bounces were just another "sign" to me that it just wasn't going to happen. - Giroux_Is_God

Do you honestly think that Chicago is going to give up Seabrooke for JVR? That they're going to make a bad deal just to get some Cap space?
