First of many conversations about who sucks, unfortunately. JVR is just the current topic.

Did we get to how bad Bryz "sucks" yet? I want in on that one.

Man that sucked. Sat there in the 3rd in a daze after that Kovy goal. 4 straight games, all the same way. How do you fix that? Their style would not have matched up with either the Caps or Rangers in my opinion. Credit the Devils, but Flyers made little basic mistakes throughout the series that just compounded as the series went on, eventually paralyzing them for fear of making mistakes.

Good season overall, let's try and keep a level head

So your saying theres a chance.

Sure, they will probably win before the Flyers do, of course we may be either.

I personally dont think Homer has any other chip to trade if he wants to upgrade his defense with a stud. UFA has Suter but thats going to an outrageous price. Unless Homer looks to add solid players like he did with Carle, Mez, and Grossmann.

Meszaros coming off back surgery would be tough to move, as well as tough to get equal value for. Timonen's contract would be tough to move as well.

Anyone else I believe could be traded.

- PLindbergh31

If Kimmo moves, its because he goes back to Finland to play a year for the team he owns in my opinion. I love Kimmo, but at 37 and with back issues, I'm not sure how much he has left in the tank. Somehow I think they would have to really monitor his ice time during the season to be around 18 minutes or lower to be fresher for the playoffs. He really looked like he ran out of gas this year, no doubt he is injured and still tried to play hard.

One other thing I noticed...and this is NOT an excuse, but merely an observation-

The hockey gods were against us this series. Yes, we all know that our play was subpar, to put it lightly, but did anyone else notice all the bounces went the Devils' way ALL series?? From Briere's post tonight to less noticeable things, like a breakout pass hopping over a Flyer's stick, hitting the boards, and right to a devil mid stride.

Like I said- not an excuse. Hell, the axiom "you make your own luck" could apply here. These lucky bounces could just be a byproduct of a hard working Devils team flying all over the ice....regardless, the bounces were just another "sign" to me that it just wasn't going to happen.

I was surprised they just meekly allowed Giroux's season to end. I thought they would show more guts than going out with a whimper. It was pretty pathetic.

The difference between you and me in such discussions is, I consider regular season stats to be a waste of time. They are as meaningless as getting home ice in the playoffs.

Jeff Carter playoffs stats: 56 games 14 goals 25 points -11.

Yup, those sure are worthy aspirations for our # 2 pick.

- PT21

Why is JVR's future production linked to Jeff Carter's past? That really makes zero sense. Many a player has struggled to put up points in the playoffs, before breaking out. I thought we were discussing JVR's potential. I didn't realize we were going to ignore the meaningless regular Season and deal in playoff numbers. That bodes well for JVR then. Last playoff Series he played in when he was healthy was when? And what were his numbers?

Not interested in discussing the differences between you and I.

Stay tuned. I'm not sure who's next. Most likely either Bryzgalov or Carle.

G mustve felt like poop out there. Not sure if they showed it on TV but he went down on the ice for handshakes. Nice suit

He has plenty of chips to trade. The question is which one would he be willing to throw into the pot.

not sure if I've ever seen that before. I'm sure it happens all the time, but I've never noticed guys who weren't playing getting in the handshake line.

Strictly an opinionated question: What do you consider to be these "chips" that Holmgrem has? No right or wrong answer, just curious.

Chips that could be traded for a very good defenseman? One or in combination.

Also, regarding Carle...

I was never really an advocate for either "side" of the Carle debate. I stayed out of it and always thought he was a good defenseman that got the job done, for the most part.

HOWEVER

In the playoffs, he really rubbed me the wrong way with his mindless and galactically stupid turnovers, ridiculously soft play (especially in front of the crease), apparent phobia of hitting the net and/or hitting 60 mph on the radar gun, and his knack of watching a Penguin or a Devil score seconds after they blew by him or he blew his coverage.

And he's asking for a raise.

Losing 4 straight isn't pathetic, or meek. It's courageous, and heroic.

He actually was not that bad today.

And I think Coburn played pretty well in the series.

Luckily for Carle and his future. None of the above is even remotely the case.

I'm absolutely baffled that anybody is blaming Bryz for this game. He was outstanding in the 2nd period. Made probably 4-5 saves that kept us even in the game. We got outworked again, and that's why we lost. The Devils were the better team. Yeah, the 2nd goal was AWFUL and inexcusable, but it's pathetic to blame Bryz for this game. Any major news station or analyst that does is a moron. The guy, if anything, showed in this series that he's capable of making big-time saves.

Also, for those saying he always has sucked in the playoffs, he led the league in shutouts and GAA with Anaheim when he was their goalie throughout most of the playoffs in 2006. 1.46 GAA, .944 sv %, 3 SO. He's fully capable of being the guy in the playoffs.

I'm just so sick of the goalie receiving all of the blame when it's not warranted. It wasn't warranted in 2000. Ditto for 2004. The Flyers haven't won a Stanley Cup since 1975 strictly because of goaltending. People need to understand that.

Anyways, it was a disappointing end to an overall good season.
