Hopefully Lavi has something up his sleeve to get the boys going right out of the gate tonight!
"Great moments are born from great opportunity.
And that's what you have here tonight, boys.
That's what you've earned here, tonight.
One game.
If we played 'em ten times, they might win nine.
But not this game. Not tonight.
Tonight, we skate with 'em.
Tonight, we stay with 'em, and we shut them down because we can!
Tonight, we are the greatest hockey team in the world.
You were born to be hockey players -- every one of ya.
And you were meant to be here tonight.
This is your time.
Their time -- is done. It's over.
I'm sick and tired of hearin' about what a great hockey team the Devils have.
Screw 'em!
This is your time!!
Now go out there and take it!"

I couldn't disagree more that this team is built to win now, and this is the best window for them. That's ridiculous. This team has the core to be a top team for a long time. Every team makes deals and drafts players to tweak the lineup. This isn't a team that has to win now. Many of it's players are no where near their peak. - MJL
I think this team is built to win for the next 10 years. Gotta go out and get two more 1-2 defensemen but in all seriousness that's not going to take 10 years to do either. Besides this is still a D-corp without Timmonen and Pronger that posts, Coburn, Mezaros and Grossmann. Have to see what happens with Carle but if they don't re-sign him I'm sure they go out and get at least as good or upgrade.
If they lose tonight and are eliminated the pain won't be as bad for me this year as it has been in the past due to the bright future this team has.
The Flyers just need to do tonight what the Devils have been doing to them: relentless pursuit of the puck, bang bodies, and make them hear footsteps no matter where they are on the ice so the likelihood of mistakes goes up. This Devils D has coughed it up a few times in front of Marty...time to give them a good reason to be shaky and nervous with the puck.

Their defense is a big question mark going forward. Timonen's game isnt what it used to be. With Pronger out, I dont think we have a #1 D-man any more. Lose Timonen, and maybe Carle.... and you dont even have a proper #2 after next year. Meaning you likely going to have to trade some of that Core to get a Number 1 or 2.

I don't think you can write them off so casually as not being able to replace those two. Maybe not this year coming up but in a couple years, sure they'll get someone.
I don't even know why I bothered, to be honest. Most days this place is like going back to an old favorite bar, except now it's been taken over by a bunch of violent drunks and morons who spill beer on your clothes and hit your car door in the parking lot.
That's why I usually don't come here on game nights. A lot of the good posters don't post as often or at all. Better conversations on twitter. - Jsaquella
That's weak sauce. I'm tired of "these hooligans ran off the cool guys." What a joke.

Even if Carle isn't re-signed (and I hope that he is), Coburn-Timonen and Meszaros-Grossman is still a very good top-4 group. There could be an upgrade added in there, plus the play of Bourdon and Gustafsson this season has been a pleasant surprise.

There is work to be done, of course. That's where a ballsy GM with a nose for decisive action comes in useful.

I'm sure they will eventually be able to replace them, I just feel thier best chance to win a cup in the next 5 years will be this year or next. After that, it's tough to see what happens. Maybe they get thier D-man... Maybe not... Who knows...

Well, I guess I'm tired of people who climb up on their little cross anytime somebody points out that they were wrong about something and act as if they're oppressed by mean people.

I generally do. Especially when you act like a martyr.
How dare that big meanie point out something I wrote that's so wrong I won't even defend it, but rather will push the other half of my point so strongly people will forget half of what I posted was dumb.
If I'm the Coach, I'm leaning heavily on that top line. I think it's been a little silly that Briere has been playing on the second PP unit, while Simmonds has struggled and the PP as a whole hasn't been great in this second round. We're juggling lines but I've seen very little change to the Power Play to get it going.
Also as crazy as this may sound, I would bring back Kubina and consider 7 Dmen. Rinaldo isn't going to help this team much. He simply has a bull's eye on his back. If Meszaros can play, he would be playing in my mind. In my opinion Lilja and Gustafsson have had a rough series as the second pair. I would show some desperation on the side of the coaching staff. If Kubina and Meszaros can go, I would change the look of the D in a heart beat. I'd even consider putting Coburn and Timonen back together.

be honest, when they got Pronger, did you see that coming a year or two away? I think most people were pretty surprised by that one.
