Every home game. Maybe it just isn't played on television. They usually break for commercial.

Defense wins cups. Our forwards are great, no doubt. No one said anything about blowing up the team in 2 years if they dont win. All I said is I believe they have a better chance to win now.
- RooNosHockey

But if your window is in the next few years like you said an earlier post, why wouldn't you blow it up if you don't win in that time frame? That's why the statement makes zero sense. Holmgren has never failed to put a quality team on the ice. We didn't have the best defense before Timonen and Pronger. But Holmgren made the moves he needed to make. Why doubt that he won't do what's needed.

I will gently disagree with this logic, MJL. Imo Teams win not just because they have good players but because some players outperform their contracts. In other words, its not the performance alone - its something like the difference between performance and pay. The greater the difference across players (assuming it is positive), the greater the team's chances. Typically, this happens because some rookies play great on their first contracts or players who were average elsewhere do great in that team or some guys have career years an so on.

Two years from now, Giroux will be getting probably double if not more. Couturier will get a huge raise. If Simmer continues to score 20+ goals, so will he. And so on. This means there will be less money elsewhere to spend.

And in that sense, yes, I am afraid there is a window, for if these guys all blossom, then we won't be able to afford them all after 2 years.

- PT21

I have to disagree completely with your line of thought here. What type of players outperform their contracts? Young player on EL deals or first level contracts. You get those players by drafting them. That's called the pipeline of talent. And even though it can get to a point where you can't afford everyone, you still have that asset to trade and get assets in return. A team is ever evolving. It is rarely stagnant. You identify the core and build around them. Like every team does. So I disagree completely that this team has that short of a window.

If you get equal players, you will not shed $. If you get prospects, then there will be a new window. Those prospects may or may not pan out.
- PT21

It's not a new window. It's the same window. Because your tweaking and building around the core you've identified. And adding to the core with moves and draft picks.

I repeat my statement from a few days ago.

If Rinaldo is the answer, I hate the question.

I've been working all day but I'm still unsure of the final line up changes today. I'm sorry but Kubina hasn't been that much worse then Lilja and Gustafsson have been as a pair. I'm not down on the 3rd pair Dmen but I really would throw a different look at the Devils tonight.

With this said, if this is the last game of the season, I really enjoyed the ride. Schenn, Couturier and Read have really brightened my Winter and I can't wait to watch them get better. I also hope to see JvR in the Flyers training camp in the fall.

Good Luck to everyone and go Flyers! It's not over until it's over!

National TV doesn't like God.
- JoeRussomanno

It's a bunch of BS that they don't play it on TV. It's a part of Flyers history and if you want fans to get into the game the NHL should do itself a favor and put extra attention into it. I believe a non fan who is checking out the game for the first time would be drawn to the game after viewing those types of things. It is those types of things that set the NHL apart from other leagues. There is a rich history with a lot of teams that no one is aware of. Apparently, the NHL likes to struggle financially.

Hang-nail.

I would rather a hurt Kubina, then a healthy Carle.. Worst d-man on this team.

Thank the Lord you are not in the Flyers scouting department. Carle can skate or pass the puck out of the zone leaps and bounds above Kubina.

Of course, since I dared gainsay something you have said, I'm a jerk.

Yep, that's why Carle is playing 25 minutes a game. Your response is not surprising.

I'd be happy if we never had GBA again. And certainly can do without the duet. Start a new tradition. Like winning a cup in the 21st century.

I do not know what his specific injury is. No one knows. Except Kubina and the Flyers.
I have no doubt that if pressed Kubina could play. But whatever his issue is, it's badly hurting his effectiveness. To the point that he's a liability out there. Because a healthy Kubina is certainly an upgrade over Lilja and Gustafsson.
