I understand fans being prideful for their teams and prospects, players, etc, but think your reaching calling Kabanov or Cizikas a "high end" prospect. Cizikas looks like he could be an NHL'er and maybe a good third liner. Thats awesome but not what I would call a high end prospect. God forbid I say something that could be taken as negative but in the real world is just a fact. If Kabanov is a high end prospect I say we trade him for a number 2 Dman? We need that more than anything. Tell you what lets package three of our high end prospects? How about DeHaan, Mayfield, and Kabanov for Suter? Three high end prospects like those guys should be able to land Suter, right?

touche! You know the point I'm making, you wouldn't do that trade? Not that you'd ever have to worry about that trade happening because in reality it's not an over payment, far from it atcually. BTW, I'd do it in a second. For all we know Di bo could be the next coming of Bossy but that doesn't mean you don't try to improve your team and go after a player of that quality when the opportunity arises. These guys as of now are not top of the line blue chip prospects, you can say they are but they aren't. Read what you like, go on hockeymonkey or hockeprospectus. Look at their body of work. Hamonic was a great prospect and was touted as one, now he's a good hockey player. That's how it works, most of the time. Of course there is going to be the occasional diamond in the rough. As of now barring Strome there are no blue chip top six fowards or top 2 Dmen in our prospects.

i have absolutely no problem trading prospects for established players; id do those deals as well. my point was that i DONT know anything about these guys other than what i read from the experts/scouts. those guys have the islanders ranked in the top 5 prospect pool, so im going with what i read....(again, not obnoxiously) do you have reason to believe otherwise?

All of us go by what we read. Very few of us watch these kids play due to the fact that there is little to no way to do that, especially for us fans south of the border. My point since the beginning of this debate has been we have no blue chip or "high end" prospects(except for maybe Strome and thats debateable). Last I remember we were number fifteen on THN's list of top prospect pools? I honestly don't think we have anyone you can call a high end prospect? DeHaan? No chance. Cizikas? He was projected to be a decent third line player and he looks that way to me, which is great. High end thus far? No. Mayfield? No. Kabanov? Come on. None of these guys are high end. Who would you consider a high end prospect?

Glad they are not coming to QC.

There will be a team there with an expansion fee of over 400 million. Best thing for the league to do was sell that Pho team to another idio* that will lose 20-25 mill for the next 5 years. The only smart thing jamason (right?) has done was ask for a out, they will end up in KC or Seatle and he will finaly make money.

The fact that this team may stay in Phoenix is an utter disgrace to the NHL and hockey fans world wide. 99% of the people assume that fans there done care and dont have proof of this. However, my job in team licensed product with one of my states I have first hand knowledge of how much of a joke it is.

All playoffs has been lets see how they do and even after they won the first round series. Today the day after they reach the Western Confrence Finals during a few phone calls went as such A) we are still not sure if we want to bring anythign in B) its too much of a bandwagon team C) Its too far away (the store was 10 miles to Jobing Arena) to name a few.

Im sorry but there are much more deserving cities not only here in the States but I can think of a few places up north who are more than deserving. If they do indeed win the cup they will still loose money on the season. Just down right pathetic.

I'm basing it on their stats and what I read, just like you. Kabanov though improved is not considered a top flight prospect. Personality has a lot to do with it I know. DeHaan was a reach where he was picked, his numbers aren't great and he was projected as a 3/4 at best during the draft(he was injured, I know. Doesn't change anything). He didn't exactly tear up the AHL last year. That's not high end. Nino was considered a good prospect and put up good numbers in juniors. Unfortunately he was put on a line with Reasoner and Pandawful and was give five mins a game to show what hes got. Not fair by any means and I think he's got real talent but at this point I would not consider him a high end prospect. Maybe its just a difference of opinion with what you think is top end talent is? I have no idea? Try trading any of these kids for a legit NHL player, one that perhaps is though of as decent and see if anyone is willing to bite? Nobody would. Why is the question? If they were such high end prospects wouldn't someone listen to a trade with Mayfield and Nino as the chips? No, they wouldn't, you know it and I know it. If they were such high end talent why wouldn't they be? Your answer to this will be, "How do you know?", "do you have proof of this?". My answer to this is no I don't have any proof, I don't need it and if you do I don't know what to tell you. You can't "prove" everything in life especially when it comes to something like this. These kids are not high end prospect. Can they turn out great? Sure, anyone can. Who knows? No one would be happier than me if they did. Would i bet on it? Absolutely freaking not and if you would I have a bridge to sell you.

I would just add that I also feel genuinely bad for their non-bandwagon fans - partly because every time their team comes up in conversation with other fans, they have to listen to this (which has got to get frustrating), and partly because in a few years they will lose their team even after having shelled out lots of $$, time and devotion... they are basically being conned by a bunch of promises being made in bad faith by Bettman. Have I mentioned lately that I want Bettman gone?

What I would say to the non bandwagon fan is this; If you are a fan of hockey you would be a fan of an ahl level team where you would be able to get by with your 7-9 k fans. Its worked in places like Houston who can and do support a minor league hockey team.

ill just chalk up this whole conversation to a difference of opinion and admit that i dont know how these guys are going to turn out; therefore these guys can fall ANYWHERE on the nhl talent spectrum and therefore i CANT say they some of them wont be top end talent
