What about Jagr?

Resign him for whatever it takes!

i'd let him walk, he almost reminds me of forsberg in his last year here

This is pretty obvious and I agree with it. However, it is impossible to project exactly how Gusty will end up...I'm just saying never say never. He could (unlikely as it is) be a 20 minute guy. Saying he is better then Carle is just laughable though.

And if I were the GM I would trade Carle's rights at the draft since I don't think his true value with be his cap hit next year.

- coffee junkie

I don't expect Carle to be back. And if he can command what I think he can on the open free agent market. I wouldn't be excited about signing him to that deal. Your right about never say never. Player evaluations is never an exact science.

Thats unacceptable. The team needs to play better. I don't care about scoring a lot of goals at this point. I want to see this team play better defensively. If they cant do that then it wont matter how many goals they score. The transition from defense to offense has been down right embarrassing so far.

The entire series has been a complete mismatch. It's looked like men against boys. If the Flyers do indeed lose this series, I want to see the Devils do this to the Rangers or Capitals, let's see the Devils bully those teams.
The only positive I can take from this is Bryzgalov has played very well.

I'm very surprised that the Panthers were able to play much better than the Flyers against the Devils. I guess this is why they say matchups are important.

Ovechkin left his feet and delivered a head shot to Girardi, Ovechkin also has a prior history of supplemental discipline. Shanahan truly is embarrassing himself with absolutely zero consistency to any of these rulings.

At this point the Flyers are without Giroux. Others will have to step up and get the job done. Right now the Flyers are in a dark hole with no flash light, rope, or water.

The Panthers are a very good team. Very tough. They proved it all year posting 92 points in the worst Division in hockey. A -24 goal differential over 82 games playing in the worst Division screams solid team to me.

That was pure sarcasm. If he signs for 2M or under I would do it (I very much doubt he takes that). Anything more and he needs to walk IMHO.

I disagree MJL about who sits if Mezzy can play. I would sit Lilja. I have a personal thing against the guy so I will not site the fact that he has been on the ice for some back breakers in this series. I will say though that this team doesn't look to have much a chance (I am usually an optimist but this team isn't even giving a good effort). Play the younger guy and get him more experience- shoot play all the young guys more. Just my 2 cents.

I only have issue with the suspension because of the lack of consistency. Malkin, Ovechkin, and Weber committed far more flagrant infractions, and weren't suspended.

It should have never happened anyway, not excusing Giroux, but once he turned his back on the play and started arguing with the official he should have been called for a unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

if i could believe jagr could stay healthy and effective next year i'd resign him at his current price or slightly more, this season does not suggest that. my eye test tells me he'd be much better off in the khl playing 60 games per year. flyers should go hard after zach parise and ryan suter, that may mean trading away some talent.

I actually think Suter and Parise end up in Detroit. They have a ton of cash to spend this offseason.

if either the flyers or red wings can land both of them and stay relatively in tact, that would mean a cup.

Corsi measures several factors, mainly shots for & against. Using those numbers, Timonen has actually been slightly better than Carle. They are the only 2 Flyer defensemen with positive ratings. Gustafsson has been far & away the worst
- Jsaquella

I don't know much about this stat, but if it is not adjusted for pp time, then Kimmo plays on the first pp unit and Gusty does not play on the pp alone.....thats a source of bias. How about even strength Corsi?

And why is this Corsi so much better? If a team keeps shots to the outside but allows a lot of them, it seems like this stat would penalize them.

Corsi sounds like hes been hanging out with Joe Banner/Howie R. Those are the types of things they use to build a team.

The playoffs is not the time to be playing a player just to gain him some experience. Lilja has been on the ice for 4 goals in the Series. None of which I can pin on Lilja.
