Kind of surprised in the suspension, first one is usually a fine. Does he have priors?

Devils out hustling Flyers generally. Flyers have the size advantage but in the wall battles where you would expect the Flyers to dominate they are not. Often the Devils are acting decisively and the Flyers are expecting help on the wall that does not arrive in time. Also in situations where they might put their body between the player and the puck it's not happening. Not once or twice mind you but time and time again, strange.

The Flyers need to act more quickly and make a decision fast as to what to do. Trying to hope the calvary will come only works in the movies. Get your feet moving Flyers.

OR......Giroux could have NOT acted like a 5 year old....tracked down ZUbrus and DELIBRITELY hit him in the head with a shoulder....that would keep him on the ice as well

I don't have a problem with the suspension. When you look around the playoffs there have been worse shots or players leaving skates that are not being held to the same standard.

I don't know why the outrage.

It was a cheap, dirty hit and G got nothing but the head of Zubrus.

- KGBflyers10

I don't think that anyone disputes that part. What is puzzling is that other players have gotten away with it, and not been suspended.

Very disappointed in G's action. Not the best time to lose your composure.

Whether it was suspendable based on criteria laid out by Shanny is immaterial. What is material is his selfish play that forced the league to make a decision.

In a time when the season is imploding all around them, it's time for your best player/arguably future captain to keep a cool demeanor about him and lead by example. And that was a poor example of how to help lead your team back into the series.

I agree with that 100%

The suspension makes complete sense. It's obviously going to sting for Philly because there are a few around the league that deserved at least the same but never happened.

Shanahan shat the bed yet again, but not with this suspension, with the non-suspension of others.

- markmark

I agree with you. It is frustrating to see the lack of consistency on Shanahan's part.

Puzzling maybe, but not relevant. It's like getting a speeding ticket. Sure, everyone else is speeding too, but you're the one who got caught.

It's also the fact that the hit was born out of his frustration 10 seconds prior that makes it premeditated. It makes it seem much worse that those other hits.

Giroux should make a statement and apologize to his teammates.

Your point is valid. I agree that Shanahan has been too inconsistent in his calls/non calls this playoffs. ALL of those offenses should have met with suspensions imo. However two wrongs don't make a right and suspending Giroux one game is the proper verdict imo. Hopefully, Shanahan will get/stay tough on these calls moving forward.
- rockychocbill

Why does he go on and on about what happened the past 60 seconds as if it proves intent? Clearly, it establishes that Giroux is mad and perhaps wants revenge. No one disputes interference/roughing.

But how does it establish Giroux is mad and is specifically targeting head? If Giroux had been laughing for the past 60 secs and thrown that exact same hit, would that have meant a lesser fine?

No apology necessary. Giroux has countless times put the team on his back this year, time for his teammates to pick him up.

He was arguing with the ref because he missed Brodeur playing the puck out of his area. The ref was standing two feet away. Now for him to go and take a shot at Zubrus late I dont agree with. However, Giroux is not known for being a dirty player (no past history). I have no problem with the suspension, I just dont get how some of these other players get away with stuff that is suspendable.

I don't disagree with any of that. But the inconsistencies certainly exist with off ice discipline. Giroux deserved to be suspended. So did other players who didn't.

Exactly. It sucks for flyers fans that it happened, but letting this hit go unpunished would just set the league back further.

Doing something so stupid that you're suspended for what could be an elimination playoff game, thus greatly hurting your teams chances? Yeah, I think that calls for an apology.
