Oh, trust me, the "remember to do this" part of my memory has always been as inconsistent as NHL suspensions.

I dont understand why Giroux, who has no previous incidents, and had his back to Zubrus when he hit him, gets a game, and Neal only got 1 for an elbow to the head, and leaving his feet to deliver a late blindside hit.

Malkin targets heads multiple times, including Grossman and Giroux...

They really need to change the rules to any head contact that the head is the primary point of contact, reguardless of intent, is an automatic suspension. Take out the guess and inconsistancy.

I started out really enjoying the change Shannahan made, like creating a video explaining the discipline, and starting to really go after repeat offenders, but ever since then, things have gone down hill. It's the inconsistnacy that sucks. It's like catching the teacher on a bad day and getting different grades for the same content.

I don't know why the outrage.

It was a cheap, dirty hit and G got nothing but the head of Zubrus.

Going to see what type of guts and team unity this group has tomorrow evening. Every time teams have been without key players in these playoffs for a game they have won. Neal in game 4, Radulov and Kostitsyn in game 3, Kovalchuk in game 2, etc....

I'm sure these players will rally around Giroux and extend his season and not have it end as he watches helplessly from the press box in a suit. Very interested to see how this team responds.

I think based on what the other decisions have been and the logic, I disagree with the suspension. Is it correct according to the letter of the law? Sure. Is it correct according to how other decisions have been made? No. In most other head shots, you see a guy with his head down and another coming with the head clearly visible. In this case Giroux has to overtake and swivel and lunge in the general area of upper body. I think the intent was to injure, but not specifically targeting head.

ANway, you could see from the Flyers post-game conversations that they are done. There is no way this goes to game 7. So, maybe Shanny thinks its moot anyway.

Not a repeat offender. Player wasn't injured. Had his head down. Didn't leave his feet.. granted it wasn't a clean hit, but should not have been suspension worthy.

Whether it was suspendable based on criteria laid out by Shanny is immaterial. What is material is his selfish play that forced the league to make a decision.

In a time when the season is imploding all around them, it's time for your best player/arguably future captain to keep a cool demeanor about him and lead by example. And that was a poor example of how to help lead your team back into the series.

Its good to see Shanahan follow the rule book for once cause he missed most of the head shots in Round 1.

Anyone that DOESNT THINK Giroux deserves at least a game is just...wrong

I don't think suspending Giroux for his hit is a disgrace. It is, however, a disgrace that prior incidents by star players weren't similarly dealt with.
