I have to think the only reason that has not been done is b/c of new CBA. The Isles are looking to see if the new CBA has a 1 contract get out of jail free card. XX there is no shot DP is an islander this year.. NONE

Dude i hope you are right... but... i doubt it.. alot

No one said he should walk away from 4.5 million but he may listen to a buy out of some sort with his pal Wang. Who knows whats going to happen with this new CBA? The guy at this point is an embarassment to this club and himself. It's time to call a spade a spade. He cannot compete at this level anymore, it is what it is.
- Cptmjl

again what benefit does buying him out give Wang.. Nothing!

For the same reasons I feel strongly this team is heading to Quebec.. I also feel DP is done as an Islander. They gave him one more shot to come back last year and it was once a gain a fiasco. Nabby had said he would not resign with the DP issue hanging over this team. He HAD to be told that it was done. Like I said earlier I think they are waiting on the new CBA to see if they have an easy out.. if not I think they do it a la Yashin style.
- niteislander

All Nabby wanted to know was that he was the starter & he wouldnt have to share the duty with DP.. NOT that DP was off the team or done... Nabby could care less if he's the back up... which he no doubt will be.

His own terms? He is selfish so he will make the team and the fans suffer until his contract runs out cause he has to much pride thinking he is something that he is not
- kasperrko

Selfish? as long as the team keeps giving him a chance to do his life's dream (play NHL hockey) why is that selfish???

We should package some of our "high end" prospects for Suter. How about Kabanov, Mayfield, and DeHaan. These high end prospects should be able to land us a number 1 or 2 Dman, right?
- Cptmjl

Suter is a FA, why are we going to trade for him?

I just hope that this year he experiences knee swelling PRIOR to playing 7 games, in which he sports a 4.29 GAA and a save percentage of .683. I'd just rather not see them lose five games they should have won (with an OT loss, and a shutout in which the other team takes 8 shots at the goal the entire game, and then I get to hear that "he's back!!!" from the idiots), and have the team spend six games after he goes down with injury trying to remember the RIGHT WAY to play defense, after having to chase his stupid a** all over the ice. He's put us behind the eight ball for the last two seasons, simply by showing up. He could do us all a favor and refrain from doing that this year....just saying... (insert emoticon of "yellow head" praying here)....

Absolutely....we should SIGN Suter, and trade Bailey and a couple or three number ones for Weber....LOL....that'd make us an instant contender, especially since we can do far better than Radulov up front.

Contender for what? The 9th or 10th pick instead of 4th or 5th? This this team needs a lot more than Weber. We are not 1 player away from being a contender for anything.

F RDP. He's done. There is no issue. He should be bought out and the team should move on. That won't happen, of course, because that decision is the correct one and this is the islanders we're talking about. They rarely make the correct decision.

The only justification in keeping him on the roster is to use his $4.5M salary to assist in getting to the salary floor. This team needs all the help it can get in that department.

DP really does need to step up and do the right thing. The Isles were good to him and more than patient. It's not right he bring nothing to this team at this point but distraction. This deal was all on Wang. DP should have been given a 5 year deal. No more especially since they won nothing with the guy.
- ses111

I'm. No RDP fan or sympathizer, but he has NO OBLIGATION "to do the right thing" if you're implying that RDP should walk away. This absurd contract is Wang's fault and Wang's doing. Wang needs to fix it. RDP need only continue to rehab and try to get healthy to honor his contract. Its on the team and Wang to correct the mistake of the deal and buy the player out. Its not on RDP to walk away from tens of millions of dollars and give Wang a mulligan for offering one of the worst contracts in sports history.

Yeah because its not asking much for your team to average 4 goals a game just to make up for having dp in net. Keep walking around with those blinders on

If only he stayed healthy this year, we'd be battling for the Stanley Cup right now instead of looking at draft prospects!

I disagree....I think you will find next year that Okposo is now ready for prime time- he seems to have finally learned that shooting the puck at the net is far more productive than the "Happy Gilmore" blast off the glass. That alone gives them two fairly dangerous lines. Their biggest problem is sh*tting the bed in the third period, because they have no size in front of their own net.....all kidding aside, with BOTH of those defensemen....they'd be pretty damned good.
