Hopefully thats what it is. Don't be too sure about DP not being an Islander this year, we've all seen this show before. - Cptmjl
Yup the Islanders will have NAbby Poulin and DP hanigng around. They love the three goalie monster. They feel lost without it. DP will play 5 games geta GAA of like 5.00 then all of sudden have some mysterious injury that knocks him out for the year. I love how DP feels he has nothing to worry about and that he can do whatever whenver and still have a spot on this team. Thanks Wang for that |

Everyone stopped caring a long time ago. Time to hang'em up DP. If you care about the team go away - Cptmjl

Hamonic +1st for Luongo - Scooby_Doo
may be the dumbest post I have seen all year. Perhaps we should trade for Brzzy too that way we have every terrible goalie contract in the league. |

Even though he loves this team so so much? I mean he says it all the time his heart is with the Islanders right? In that case money would not even be a an issue. I am sure he has enough money to buy the Islanders if we wanted to. OH NO! That is it!! Ricky D is going to be the next owner |

No one said he should walk away from 4.5 million but he may listen to a buy out of some sort with his pal Wang. Who knows whats going to happen with this new CBA? The guy at this point is an embarassment to this club and himself. It's time to call a spade a spade. He cannot compete at this level anymore, it is what it is. |

For the same reasons I feel strongly this team is heading to Quebec.. I also feel DP is done as an Islander. They gave him one more shot to come back last year and it was once a gain a fiasco. Nabby had said he would not resign with the DP issue hanging over this team. He HAD to be told that it was done. Like I said earlier I think they are waiting on the new CBA to see if they have an easy out.. if not I think they do it a la Yashin style. |

Lots of talk that the new CBA will have a 1 time buyout without penalty clause to help teams get out of stupid contracts. If so we will know all we need to about the front office if they don't use it here. 4.5 added to what it will take to get to the floor is alot of $$$ to spend on a marketable free agent, such as Weber or Parise, for the record I see Parise staying in NJ with Lou pulling off some whacky deal, and Weber going to Detroit to replace the great Lidstrom. |

yes.. this will happen. The buy out will be done by Oct. 1 ..unless the new CBA has a better option for Wang... that is my opinion. As I have said quite often... I have been wrong before but that is my feeling. |

you think? What did you think of the free agent pickups? - kear20
They look incredible! Its actually very realistic, I can see those FA pickups happening. This team like last years, the year before that, etc... Will not make the playoffs! Snow will definitely sign those kinds of players, we've all seen this before and it will be no different, anyone who thinks it will be is just fooling themselves. |

Weber isn't going anywhere as he is a RFA... Suter may go to Detroit but I don't see why u need to crush my hopes and Dreams on a Monday morning. |

I am the same guy who said Hunter was going to come back with a vengance 4 years ago, DP was going to be great again 2 years ago and Bailey and Okposo would have career years last year.
I was right on Hamonic though.. so I will hang my hat on that one. |

This team pretty much consistently does the wrong thing more often than not, always bet on the most ridiculous option and you'll find a picture of Charlie smiling at you. You being wrong about things the Isles might do is a good thing, you don't want to think like them! |

I agree with you, it will be those type of players...look for a Bryan Bickell for Reasoner trade...I remember reading that Chicago was interested in him. Reasoner's contract is reasonable and Bickell gives the Islanders size...I'd put him with Tavares and see what happens...
Also, did you see Ek's blog about the Islanders going for the #1 pick overall? Some of those trades are ridiculous. No way you trade Molson or Harmonic to move up 3 spots. Doesn't make sense and Edmonton doesn't want to take more salary of both Molson who will be getting $5 million when his deal expires and Hamonic about $3.5 to 4 million. Edmonton will have to pay big for their up and coming stars...so an extra pick is probably what they want. I would keep the pick...then trade the 2nd pick or 3rd pick for an established NHL defenseman. |

I think the Islanders stay in the NY area because of the cable contract. You wouldn't get the big cable contract in Canada because TV is gov't run in Canada. Look for Brooklyn to be their next spot for the short term (10 years sweetheart lease). They will change the seating when they get a commitment from the Isles. |

Stop working?? He has not worked for years and he sucks at his job so yeah time for a career change. When baseball realize that they cant hit anymore they walk away. When football realize after so many injuries that they cant do there job they walk away. So yeah I expect him tot do the same for the sake of his health and for the team that he loves |

The only time an athlete retires due to an injury is when it affects their potential quality of life. |

Wang will sell to the highest bidder.. and that will be someone in Quebec. The cable contract is only a factor if he was going to keep the team. I don't think that will happen. |
