Calvin de Hann and 4th pick for 1st pick??
- blackhawks64

This I would do, but I'm not sure EDM does that; De Haan still has tremendous potential but he's had some injury trouble. But if EDM can get Galchenyuk/Grigorenko at 4, maybe they would consider it. Big center and De Haan or Yakupov? Close call IMO.

Eh I'd take Nino and Murray over Yakupov, I think. The Oilers would have to add something in.

I
don't know how high Nino's stock is right now...

Then we don't wan't "Yak." Again, this isn't Crosby/Ovechkin/Stamkos. If EDM is demanding Hamonic, then they can have fun with their first overall pick.
- isles10289

exactly, Yakupov isn't that super special talent you see every 5-6 years. Great potential but not worth what some think he is worth.

So no Hamonic, JT, Strome or 4th and you want the 1st overall? Sounds great.

This is pretty much the issue with this draft for all the teams. This draft is relatively weak, so I can't see teams willing to give much to move up, and anything they are willing to trade, the team with the higher pick won't be happy with. I would move Strome with the pick if EDM added Musil or another D, but besides that, I'm just not sure EDM and NYI are the best trading partners.

Exactly- that's actually a very similar situation. Hopefully with some A time, Niederreiter will be fine, just like Paajarvi will hopefully be fine. It's hard to remember how young these guys really are sometimes.

That's why I don't understand why people constantly dump on Gagner... They've been crapping on the kid now for 2-3 years, saying that he has maxed out his potential and he's only 22.

Key words. He's 19 years old dude. He's two years away from being able to drink legally in the US. Have some patience.

Forsberg seems like a Burke-type player to me, although you guys do need a center.
- eichiefs9

Enter 6'3 center Faksa with a scoring touch and defensive pedigree beyond his years. Has been on steep and steady climb all year too.

Forsberg is basically PRV

Agreed, but if you guys want YAK, Hamonic might be what it takes... I think Hamonic is great but the 1st overall will take alot
- sbroads24

I don't even believe the Islanders are trying to acquire the first overall, let's face it..Ek reported it and I haven't heard it literally anywhere else. Odds are it's a large crock of crap.

I realize the 1st overall never comes cheap, but the Oilers would have to move down only 3 spots. The difference in talent between Yakpov and guys like Grigorenko/Gally/Murray/Dumba/Forsberg is noticeable, but not all that great. It's not worth trading a franchise-caliber player for a 1A guy, not when you can keep that player and get a 1B. I don't think the haul would be nearly as much as most people think. If they traded down to, say, your pick... then I could see a ridiculous payment for #1.

Forsberg > Faksa IMO. Faksa is good, but he's a reach top 5. I know Huddle loves him, but I'd take any of Yakupov, Grigorenko, Galchenyuk, or Forsberg over him. Faksa is the 5th best F in this draft IMO.

Probably Moulson, your pick, and something else.

Where are the Isles picking this year?

Strome and the 4th pick for the 1st and Musil or another, lower-tier D prospect could be a solid deal. EDM gets Strome as their long-term 2C and their pick of Murray/Dumba to solve their D worries. Islanders get Yakupov to play with JT and a depth d-man. That could work for both sides.

I know Moulson is good but Edmonton is not desperate for fire power. Goal scoring is not an issue with this team with RNH, Eberle, Hall, and Hemsky. If we're talking forwards they need a big physical PWF with a scoring touch, or like you suggested a guy like Strome to be a quality 2C.
