Yakupov would cost the Isles Hamonic + the number four pick..... and if not Hamonic another very solid young D-man plus the number 4 overall.

Edmonton doesn't really want to select Yakupov (They need D) but will if the offers aren't right.

gomez and #3 pick to the islanders for parenteau and #4 pick.
- fernie

Parenteau's not under contract. And why would the Islanders help the Canadiens out from under that pile of poo?

Besides Tavares what do the isles have that will be as good as Yakupov? Yakupovs ppg in Junior was on par with Stamkos, Hall, And RNH..therefore he projects as high as those guys.
Hes not big, but not small either and built freakishly strong, and has said that he wants to come to edmonton.

Oilers defence has improved in goals against per game for three straight seasons, their offence has stayed the same..hall, eberle, and rnh are improving but outside of the trifecta oil has nobody who can put up consistant offence(hemsky has become far too injury prone)

Defence can be improved through free agency, college signings, and trades..maybe the oil wont get franchise d this way but is anybody in the draft considered a future franchise defenceman? Far too early to tell..Yakupov is the most sure thing, I say the pick is untradable.

Now if somehow oil can get a second pick in the top five they could come home with both Yakupov and Galchynuk.

That makes sense. How do you explain Brett MacLean?

I love how so many isles fans are like "moving ______ to only move up 3 spots is ridiculous!!!"

this isn't moving from 10-7, you are moving up to the FIRST overall pick and get a player that is CLEAR CUT ahead of every other player in the draft.

B level prospect+4th does not interest us.

- gretzky

No one proposed a B level prospect; you guys are asking for a 21 year old franchise d-man, plus a pick 3 spots later. And it doesn't matter if he's clear cut ahead of every other player in the draft; it's a weak draft. The difference between 4 and 1 won't be that big.

Alot of offers, hard to say what pieces would start the conversation from NYI just to get EDM to listen. It's hard to say what works between NYI and EDM. I would look at Calvin De Haan, Anders Nilsson & 4th overall for 1st? Not sure is that overpayment from NYI.
- deks1

That might be a slight overpayment, but that's actually a pretty decent deal. Maybe the Oilers add a second, lower-tiered asset to clinch the deal.

How do you know this?

He has better numbers than Stammer in his draft year.

Russia hater?

He will VERY likely be on the level of a Hall/Tavares etc.

- gretzky

There's more than just numbers. He's small and has had two concussions already, plus plays a reckless style of hockey (which doesn't bode well for his future health).

The Islanders are going to trade for the #1 pick who is Yakupov and then they will announce they' re moving to Brooklyn...to take advantage of the large Russian population in Brooklyn.

Kane is the only guy who has a Cup...
- keatondixon

I guess that makes him better than the rest of them he's also the only guy with trade rumors swirling around him.

He's lucky he was drafted by the Blackhawks and not a bottom feeder. Simple as that.

I would want an Edmonton defensemen back if you make that deal...so it's a 3 for 2...but I think deHaan and the Islanders #1 will get the deal done.

The concussions would scare me off. The Isles need some big dmen and forwards and please keep DP away from this team along with no vets like Rolston and the Isles will be fine. The #1 pick is not a huge priority.

Strome and the 4th I would think. who knows.

Yak will be in Oiler silks next month.

- FiretheGM

Oilers would have to add something, but that's the deal that makes the most sense between these two teams.

No no; go back and read the thread- Hamonic ain't going anywhere.

Why would you say that?
- laughs2907

Every single person who has scouted him, written about, him, etc. has said that. I've seen Yakupov play, and while he's a very good player, he's not Stamkos/Tavares level.

A Leafs fan laughing at another franchise? How'd that run at the playoffs go this year? Have fun picking directly behind us in the draft, fool. 1967 (Note: Isles have won 4 cups since the Leafs last won one).

Brooklyn is going hard for the Isles. The Nets want another team in that building. I would think Ratner and Wang should be able to come up with some type of fair agreement. I would be very suprised at this stage if they do not end up in Brooklyn.

Then the Isles aren't getting Yakupov, and after two concussions before age 18, I'm actually OK with that. Keep our prospects and land Murray, Galchenyuk, or another stud at 4.

Every single person said the same thing about RNH last year too.

That is, they said nobody in last years draft was anywhere near Hall/Seguin.

LOL. You know, that was 30 years ago. Closer to 1967 than today.

Over the last 5 years, the Leafs haven't done very well.

Over the last 20 seasons, the Islanders have been the biggest joke of the NHL, hands down, no question. No team in the NHL has missed the playoffs more than the Isles in the last 20 seasons. 6 playoff appearances, 5 of which were first round exits. Plus things like Dipietro on contract until infinite, a joke of a GM, no arena, and a good possibility of moving.

Nashville, huh? Hands are pretty full with the Quebec Nord- I mean Phoenix Coyotes right now. Isn't your arena less than half full during playoff games? Have fun with Radulov once Weber and/or Suter leave lol plus, there's so much to address, I won't even bother, except for the moving part. You obviously haven't even heard a thing about it, because there's a zero chance of them moving out of NY.

I'd still say RNH isn't on Stamkos or Tavares' level. Definitely not Stamoks's level, at least. I really wish Tavares had better talent around him- he's amazing.
