they've all been bad. jagr has been especially invisible. the load shouldn't be on his shoulders though.

Flyers got him just 15 years too late.

I could walk you through two goals in the last two games where he was terribly slow to react to his check after coming off the wall. He was wandering around today creating unnecessary d zone coverage overlaps. He looks slow and tired. Somebody else tell me I'm wrong here.
- rockychocbill

I could walk you through plays where the entire team is making mistakes and being outworked. Look at what the defenseman are having thrown at them, and you wonder why they look tired? The Flyers are being outplayed team wide. No player is without culpability. But let's single out Matt Carle.

It isn't, just an example how you can find something with almost everyone at this point that's contributing to their being down 3-1.

I didn't come close to saying anything of that nature.

You did, actually. You said that the team has been good defensively, and that from a young team, inconsistency has to be expected. But this leaves at best unexplained the inconvenient fact that many of the worst defensive plays in our zone are coming from the veteran forwards.

Goodbye to jagr If we are going to back to the old clutching and grabbing. The flyers have no idea what to do here. Lava is at a loss for words. No time to change this around

The Flyers have lost confidence imo. I believe they are trying but they dont have an answer to the Devils pressure.

he's been a nice addition this year, but i didn't expect much of him in the playoffs. there have been other excellent vets on the team in their twilight. a lot of them. never seems to work out.

He's supposedly our number 2 D man. I expect more. If this is what his compete level is then I don't want him back. At least Kimmo and Coburn are seen to be making an effort.

Ahhhh good old hockeybuzz.

Matt Carle debate in full swing.

Thou shalt not say anything negative about him or point out a single play.

Who the (frank) cares.

This place is ruled by ego's, and one bigger than all the rest.

Its like that idiot driving the big 4x4 Hummer.

In 2009 when Mariano Rivera was 40, the Phillies owned his ass in the world series. So that is a prime example of a once great player who was past his prime not excelling in the playoffs.

Its funny because a lot of posts about Carle are made even in a joking way. The same they are with Shelley.

If they weren't all quoted from (frank)ing page one and debated maybe we could talk about something else. Or god forbid get some personality in here.

If your saying that it appears that Carle isn't making an effort. I completely disagree. And as far as expecting more, I expect more from a lot of players. I expected more from the entire team in this Series then they've gotten so far. But let's focus on one player. Because that's how an entire team get's outplayed. Due to just one player's play.

I think the Rags would do a much better job against the Devils then the Flyers. They will be able to move the puck out of their own zone.

I really thought we'd get over on them this year. PIT/NJD/NYR. It was going to be the sweet trifecta.

Not sure if anyone has already pointed this out, but it appears to me the Devils are doing a lot of subtle picks that are borderline interference. These "pick" plays slow down Flyer pursuit of the puck and generates time, space, and speed for the Devils. Not sure if this is a normal/legal thing, but I've seen it more this series than ever before. Anyone else seeing what I've seen?

Here's the quote:

"This team and it's young forwards have shown that they can play solidly defensively. By it's very nature a team made up of young players is inconsistent at times."

Clearly you are making a correlation between youth and what you are seeing today.

I don't intend to argue with you, but imo the Flyers have had a problem with backchecking since after Hitch left. They as an organization just don't stress that enough, and their coaches have not stressed that enough. And NJ has progressively discovered that if you forecheck like gangbusters and keep the puck in, defensive breakdowns are going to happen. They have managed to put their knife in that chink, and prised it open and now it is a gaping wound. I don't think honestly it has much to do with youthfulness.

Let's put it this way. Flyers have not shown ANYTHING in the last 3 games that shows that they have a chance of turning this thing around.
