Endless lost one on one battles. Time after time you had Flyers receiving the initial outlet pass somewhere in the neutral zone while STANDING STILL, thus allowing a Devil to be on them almost immediately.

Time after time they were met at the blue line and instead of going up the boards with the puck they would try to force a pass in to the middle that got intercepted or deflected.

Time after time they would dump the puck in and have no other forward entering the zone with speed, thus getting beaten easily to the puck either by a Devil d-man or Broduer himself. And when they DID get to the puck, they would lose the ensuing battle pretty quickly and decisively.

In the first and third they werent skating with any kind of urgency.

What the heck happened to these guys?

- MBFlyerfan

They look like a different team then we saw against Pitt.
And its not just the difference between Fleury and Brodeur, I mean the Flyers skaters.

definitely concur about the mental aspect. That's why i think maybe a lineup tweak pushes a button.
- JoeRussomanno

stated early...
beyond the line change phuck up, the Flyers owned pretty much the third and overtime. The PP needs help.

the devils are throwing two men in to 4check with the second trailing to start the boring trap...
go back and look at tape and shoot the dam puck.

i will say and i know its gamemanship but all this touch me slightly and fall down sh!t is just sad. Marty is turning into cry baby...

I recently made the effort to watch Conan. I made it halfway through, never got to finish. Gotta get on that.
- BulliesPhan87

if you watch the sequel (if youre refering the original movies that is.) get nachos b/c there's tons of cheese. They really effed that one up bad. Makes me wanna cry everytime i pick up a R.E Howard story. the new one, meh same thing they went Xena warrior princess on it first movie i almost walked out on in a long time.

As for hockey though this team does need to get their heads screwed on right. It just seems like there's a lot of mental mistakes out there.

When you have the resume that Brodeur has and get into the ref's ear, you get the call.
- 77rams

Brodeur didn't fall because of the contact he lunged forward to try and freeze the puck and missed it. I thought it was a gift call considering Brodeur was whining after game one. There was contact on Bryz on the same level and no call.

at the risk of being pelted with homerish insults, I completely agree. Seems like they are playing down. I mean c'mon these guys needed seven games to beat Florida get out of town with that!

Yup. Everyone looks ..off. Where is Hartnell's fire? Jagr's determination? Roo's creativity?

No complaints about Briere, Coburn or Talbot though.

That's definitely a significant part of it. Every team gives up quality scoring chances, but the Flyers seem to do that at an alarming rate. How well do you think Lundqvist or Quick would do on this team?
- jd342

They don't let in as many stoppable shots. I have watched other teams give up quality chances so let's not pretend that this is a enigma just for the flyers. If Bryz gets beat because of defensive breakdowns and goals are scored via snipes or backdoor slam dunks then fine.
I am also not blaming Bryz for being down 2 games to 1.

our guys standing still in the netural zone pretty much tells you that the puck support is terrible.

flyers just need to bear down and refocus on playing simply. the wide-open stuff against the pens is over.

forwards need to be MUCH better in the d zone to help bust up devs forecheck. offensively, they need to take their shots when they can. fatso does not look sharp in the least.

all starts with G, imo.

he is not sharp and I'm feeling like the habs when the Flyers beat them in the ECF's. Not making his job hard at all and this offense is way capable of giving him nightmares! Get SOme JAM!

Also I'm of the mind that if you get pinned in deep it's better to just ice the damn puck. Don't let them get into a groove.

Still bummed about last night's loss. My first in attendance at the Rock.
But I can honestly say that we STILL haven't seen anything close the the Flyers best effort. I don't know what it is. Maybe they thrive off the pressure or maybe they need more controversy. But they just seem content.

From my view last night- strongest players were Jake (though I was furious when he had puck control for like 20s on the PP and DIDN'T EVEN PUT THE PUCK TOWARDS THE NET!!!) and Coburn.

On a different note. I really enjoyed the Club seats last night. I was behind the Flyers bench so it was cool to see the players reaction's after their shift. Like when jake had his hands on his head in complete disbelief after the Schenn tip in OT. Lots of food, cookies, sushi, burgers drinks galore. Not bad.

I will say that after watching a game from there i MUCH prefer our usual Wells Fargo seats behind Bryz. There is something about having the whole ice in front of you that i like better.

Must win sunday. Gotta give it everything, and need G to step up HUGE!

Yes. The proof is in Bryzgalov. With Pheonix he was awesome, with Philly hes average. Goalies often reflect the team infront of them.

Why has Smith been better with Phoenix than Bryzgalov was?

I like JVR's size even with him getting back in shape.
I just don't think you can scratch Jagr...but i understand why you would want too.

At the same time, as much as I like Rinaldo's energy i don't trust the officiating.

- phi1671

Who do you put in for these guys? They might be down a cooter on Sunday. They can't just sit a Jagr or a jvr. Big mistake.

The flyers are letting the devils come at them way too much. Our d seem afraid to pinch prob Bc their not sure a forward will cover them. Grossman on 3 or 4 occassions backed off pucks he had a 50 50 shot at and let the devils take it with a full head of steam. I don't understand that and to me it speaks Of our D and forwards not being on the same page

The Devils are finding the open man when the Flyers pinch. The Flyers are not staying in their lanes and on top of the they are losing the one on one battles. Will it change...I think so...
I don't think the Devils can play any better where the Flyers can play 100% better.
If the Flyers allow the Devils to play boring hockey (which is working), they will win...
