Kings are just the better team.
Goalie play is the biggest difference.
2 really good top lines, role players playing well and a big physical defense.

He hasn't looked that bad though. Not as good as when he was on fire in March, but if you let quality scoring chances pile up, some are going to get through. Regardless of the goalie. He's kept them in a lot of games this post season. The numbers obviously aren't there, but he's made a lot of difficult, clutch saves.
- jd342

Vanbiesbrouck also had phenomenal numbers in the '98-99 PO's but was plagued by the one soft goal a game that led to the first round defeat by TO.

Breeze is making both the clutch saves as well as letting in the occasional softee that eventually comes back to haunt us. It's the inconsistency that's maddening.

I would get a smidgen of pleasure out of it if LA beats the Rangers.
It would still suck, but better then seeing NYRs win the Cup.

Parise is out playing our best player, he looks dynamic every shift and dangerous.

Flyers PP runs through Giroux and right now his decisions with the puck have not been good.

Devils are taking good advantage of the Flyers defenseman trend to throw pucks backward behind the net, they have scored a bunch of goals coming of mishandles from behind the goal line.

Grossmann has been ineffective since coming back. Bad timed pinches on the offensive blue line and the blown coverage on the Kovy goal.

Would have liked Bryz to stop that first goal, Elias's shot bounced off his body before going in. He had no chance on Kovy's, and would have liked him to have stopped Parise's. He did make some very big saves, timely ones too in game three. I'm not blaming him for the loss.

Jvr better learn a two way game soon. His offensive game is way too streaky for him to just be a one way player.

Losing Couts was huge, it costs them their depth advantage rolling 4 lines. Talbot was largely invisible without the 19 yo next to him.

If Wellwood could finish he'd be making 5+M a year. Sigh.

Jake has been great. If Giroux/Jagr can get going they can still win this series.

- Marc D

I agree he should have had the Elias goal but the Parise goal I saw coming about 3 seconds before the puck got to him. Even Clement said in the postgame you can't leave a guy like Parise or anyone for that matter all alone which Carle did and not think that won't hurt you. Not his exact words but that was the gist of it.

Also Tocchet gave his take on Bryz and that he hasn;t been specatacular but he's been good. He would look better if not for all these blown coverages. He did use and stress the term "blown Coverages." That's what is killing them their defensive coverage is awful at times.

This is all stuff they can fix too. I expect Lavy to make adjustments, even if it means go the keep it simple stupid" route.

Simmonds has been handling the puck way too much esp on the pp. the devils wait for him to make the mistake and just clamp down on everyone else.

The Coyotes have looked good, and the Predators are better than they've looked lately, but I think the Kings will beat whichever advances.

I cannot blame bryz. I just want my goalie to not lose games. He hasn't stole one. But he hasnt lost one either

Hate to bring salary into the equation, but when you are paying a goalie 51 million dollars, you are paying him to steal games.

Its interesting how many writers have missed that Schenn did not "brush" Brodeur. His right skate makes solid contact with Brodeur's right skate in the paint. If you look at the upper body, you will not see it. Enough to make Brodeur go down? Prolly not. Enoguh to perhaps affect his ability to stop the shot? Yep. Maybe thats a call refs don't always make, but it was the right call.

bryz is an upgrade of what we had last year, think back.......remember the torture we went thru as fans with the goalie switching, bob demotion, leighton awol and a sweep by the bruins.

this is great playoff hockey, this is how it goes...up and down hills, i cant wait till the next game cuz i really beleive it will be our "down the hill" turning game.

the whole team has been outworked, the devils are thriving as the underdogs and we need to remind them that they are just that, the underdogs.

i see us doing to them on sunday, what the pens did to us in game 4, 2 days off in both cenerios, a little embarrased and very pissed at the same time, there faces after the game spoke multitudes.

19 goaltenders have started games in these playoffs. Bryzgalov's save % is 18 out of 19.

Boucher's playoff save % last year was considerably higher than Bryzgalov's this year.

I'd be happy if he was solid from bell to bell.

But I can say that about the entire team as well.

the Flyers are allowing NJ to dictate the pace of the game ... they are not moving their feet and everything thing they did right against Pittsburgh they are doing wrong against the devils... the OT goal was just disgusting poor line change and they hung grossman out to dry.. bryz made the initial save and had no defense to help clean up the rebound ... just terrible hockey

There are a number of good forwards making good money on the team. Not sure if defensive coverages and back checking were in the contract

What's your point? This isn't baseball. You can't just use numbers to judge performance.

There are 5 other guys on the ice who also get paid.

Think it's time you switch him with Wellwood. Wellwood, Briere and Voracek line.

If Couts can't play I'm guessing Holmstrom gets the call, and hate to go this route but if JVR is going to be ineffective, then scratch him and bring back Rinaldo. At least he'll stir the pot a bit and rattle someone's noggin.

When you have the resume that Brodeur has and get into the ref's ear, you get the call.

I am here talking Flyers.
My main hope is for G to get his game back to the level of the Pitt series.
And the Flyers D to get the puck out of their zone faster, not go backwards with the puck.

If that happens, and Bryz can play decent Flyers can still win this.

This was still a much better game by the flyers than game 2. Hopefully the trend will continue. They will be a very desperate bunch come sunday
