Bill, I gotta disagree with something you said. I agree that Coburn and Timonen played pretty well... I agree that Grossmann looked foggy and hasnt been himself. I thought Gusty had his worst game... tons of rookie mistakes. I thought Lilja looked slow, and struggled anytime the puck was near him.. but I cannot agree that Carle played well. He was spotty at best. He is such a frustrating player for me to watch. He does certain things so well.. and then does somethings that drive me nuts. He simply cannot physically assert himself. His shots rarely (and yes I know he scored) get through to the net, and he turns the puck over way to often.

On the Parise goal, it all started with a bad pass (or clear) by Carle in the neutral zone. The puck then gets chipped into the corner where Parise pressures Carle into a sloppy chop over to Lilja who is covered by Elias. Parise than beats a gliding Carle to the front of the net and buries the goal. If Carle could have physically asserted himself on that play.. and either protected the puck, or

He also had a few shots ( i believe one was on a PP in OT) where he shot just bounced off a shin pad and lead to a clear, or a few times a rush the other way. He lead all players in the NHL playoffs in turnovers heading into last nights game with 10. He HAS to do a better job.

Just my frustrated (and soon to be infamous) opinion.

the boys need to start hitting and making the devils pay. Damn it they dont look angry....someone tell them they did not win the cup because they beat Pittsburgh. Wish pronger was here to knock some sense into them!

What's been so frustrating is losing the battles. At times last night it looked like there were 9 Devils on the ice as they swarmed Flyers at every opportunity. You would think they couldn't keep up this pace after 7 game series.

Flyers need to dictate their game.

As for OT PPs: STOP trying to be fancy. ANY OT goal will be a highlight goal, it doesn't have to look good.

Sun night is the series.

I hear ya man -- I'm just in a good mood cause it's friday and it's going to be nice out this weekend. Plus I think the extra days rest is going to be good for the flyers. get their poop together and play the way they know how. crash the net, no fancy poop.

not sure what the problem is with this team and maybe I am over-simplifying here, but there seems to be no consistency to their game right now. They play well for stretches and then disappear, but then they play well again. Maybe all part of being a young team, maybe the kids are hitting a wall after the Pitt series, I don't know. I do know that their inconsistency will be the one major thing that keeps them from the cup. They are better than they have played so far, that is what is most frustrating to me. The Devils seem to have the energy right now and are playing the underdog roll to a T. We need to rediscover the energy we had in the first series and develop better consistency period to period or this nice run will end all to soon.

I hear that, I'm looking to get out of town, find a watering hole with an outdoor area (@ggunk no time for the games this weekend, real life keeps getting in the way ). I hear it's going to 89 degrees today?

i can't understand why they are letting the Devils dictate the play. Where is Talbot? I know everyone is nicked up but they need to push the Devils more than they are. I think they are giving this team way more respect than they deserve. Too much space and time. When they do press the Devils will turn over the puck., And can I get some puck support? Please!

The only reason the Flyers are even in the 2nd round is because Fluery forgot how to stop a puck. Brodeur hasn't been great but he's been a hell of a lot better than Fluery was. Every team that qualified for the playoffs in the East would have beat Pitts in the 1st round the way Fluery played.

now some people will read this and say its an excuse...
they seem a slight step behind but at the same time, the ice conditions due to weather or whatever hasn't helped them. NO, it didn't cause them to lose but if one team plays on bad ice most of the year they are better in dealing with it versus a team that plays on good ice. so, seeing as how the Devils have had better puck possession, one can only thunk it.

Any news on Cooter?

Also, I still think we can win this series. They won game 1 and I think we thought it'd be a walk. We played terrible in game 2 and so so last night. I am hoping they wake up like they did in game 6 vs Pitt.

I think a major reason they are not putting pucks in deep is because of Brodeur. He is so dam good with the puck, he can outlet an odd man rush on almost any dump in.
- Jimmygrazz

I'm referring as much to detail-type plays where the flyers need to dump the puck deep to change lines or to change momentum by getting the puck to a safer area. they also had plenty of opps to lob pucks into corners where brodeur couldn't get to it.
