Honestly, don't think it's just a simple matter of him getting it going. Unlike the Pens, who for some reason let Giroux have all the time and space that he wanted, the Devils are shadowing him, two-man pressuring him, running a lot of interference and taking him down at every opportunity. They've created a real quagmire for Giroux and, as a result, his wingers are forced out of their usual positions to support him and are handling the puck more that usual, which has made defending that line much easier.

Its time for some Flyers to check their egos at the door, have a long video session tommorow and figure this out. The boys are off today but the coaching staff better be on their 5th pot of coffee

You can tell DeBoer has a great scouting report on the Flyers and what makes them tick both offensively and defensively. They're taking away the Flyers' bread and butter and really pushing them out of their comfort zone at both ends of the ice -- the Flyers just haven't been able to adjust and are caught playing frantic and disorganized.

The difference in the series so far has been the two d-corps, IMO. The Devils don't have any stars back there, but one through six they're big, mobile, physical, positionally strong and healthy. The lone weak-point might be Zidlicky, but he's nowhere near as big of an Achilles Heel as guys like Lilja and Gustafsson are. For the Flyers, 3/6 could be considered undersized and the big Devils' forwards are utilizing a simple chip and chase to cycle game, getting the puck behind the Flyers D and really taxing them physically. They need Meszaros and Kubina back asap.

not sure we've put enough pressure on their d at all besides periods 2 and 3 of game one. put pressure on them and they'll get themselves in trouble. saw that with larsson last night and zidlicky as you mentioned just off the top of my head.

i think the difference has been the defensive play of our forwards. not nearly enough puck support which means no target for quick outlet passes to combat the two-man forecheck (which is sort of amazing that the devils are playing; like the anti-trap). defensive play of forwards has been an issue on-and-off throughout the year, so it's equally not much of a surprise and fixable.

if they can get more support from their forwards, they should be able to create a lot of offense on the counterattack or at the very least chip, chase and cycle.

It's fine in the last 3 minutes of the last game of the series when you're up by 3 goals.

Otherwise you haven't won jack squat and you're giving the other team a reason to get pissed and motivated.

That's why.

Win first. Gloat later.

The Fox Mulder in me says the silence is a bad sign.
With all the torn ACLs happening in the sports world I hope it is not to that level.

I just saw that the reliever for the Yankees tore his ACL and MCL which is something I would suggest everyone does as I did the same thing last April and let me tell you its fun!

IMO, I think Couturier pulled a hamstring or possible tore it. I watched the replay over and over but I'm hoping its nothing serious.

Brodeur got whacked by a ghost. Total pansy move. Can't he get two-minutes for being a little whiny girl?

Hey, FlyguyHI.

Technically, yes, a player could receive an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for diving, but you don't typically see this handed out to a goalie, especially not one with a sterling reputation like Martin Brodeur.

I agree. If Hasek wasn't getting called for it during his heyday (impersonating Charlie Brown on the pitcher's mound after getting a line drive hit at him), Brodeur isn't either.

Kind of reminded me of Ryan Howard's injury...
