See the thing is, I would at least like them to beat the Devils.

- flyer_nutter

Which we know they won't at this point right so why even bother playing the games?

Clearly I am sure that was the same thing the Preds were thinking when they fell behind 2-0.

I think we should really wait until game 4 before we start planning for Yellowstone attacks and kills the world type scenarios with the Flyers.

The only reason I'm shocked is because whenever the puck goes near Broduer he seems out of position, or late on a movement. The guy looks lost out there, and the only thing saving him is the Flyers cant get shots on goal, and even if they do, they dont have anyone in front for the rebounds. The Flyers should smell blood and be feasting on this guy. He is a shell of what he used to be. It's just smoke and magic out there holding this Devils team together. If the Flyers could just see through the strenght, they should see nothing but weakness.
- RooNosHockey

Broduer has been playing the puck extremely well, which is one of the biggest issues. He gets it first, flings it to a dman that quickly gets it out of the zone. The flyers seem confused. They are too spread out on the forecheck and not giving enough support.

If the flyers can control the play in the devils zone I think they can start putting more pucks past Marty. Plus, if they can establish a forecheck it will start to wear these devils players down. Right now the flyers are the ones get worn down.

The Devils are dictating the way the games are played and most of the Flyers forwards don't like the way it's being played and don't seem to know how to change it to their advantage.

Agreed..

Soft dumps into the corner with hard pursuit or high on the boards should make it harder for him to control the puck so much.

If Coots can't go on Sunday, then i'm fine with inserting Rinaldo into the game. He'll have fresh legs, and who knows maybe he goads a devil into a penalty.

Then again maybe he explodes on the ice and we lose by 8 pp goals.

- deligirl83

I wouldn't have a big problem with Rinaldo in the lineup on Sunday. The Flyers desperately need some rambunctiousness and emotion in their lineup, and he can certainly bring that.

Hopefully by Sunday the Flyers will learn to NOT be caught flat footed in their own zone, and allow the Devils aggressive fore check to pin them in. I want to see CONSTANT movement.

It just seemed like every shift they were surprised that the Devils were so aggressive. Well, they should know the deal by now. Move the damn puck. Quickly.

What about carrying it deep into thezone, making them chase you then putting it in front, work it down lown? It seems like they either play to simple or too complicated, and please enough with the no-look pass!

In my defense I mentioned sitting jvr and Jagr. I said the Jagr thing was kind of tongue in cheek and youhave to admit his play has been less than impressive. Jvr was sat sporadically for the 2010 playoffs and it didn't seem to hurt the team. He's been almost awol since game 1 even bill said so in the blog. Otherwise I agree with all this.
- JoeRussomanno

Last little thing for today.

I mentioned the other day moving Jagr down off the top line. It's time to shuffle the lines. Jaromir looks painfully slow out there and Briere is hurting them far too much down the middle.

I dont disagree with any of this. I would even say if Lavy cant get the team to adjust, they are being out coached too.

As soon as he touches the puck, the forwards go into scramble mode and have no idea what to do it seems. No focused forecheck with a plan. It's almost like dump it in and hope for the best. JVR should be first one in putting defensemen through the glass.

If there's one thing Lavy has proved in his coaching career, it's that he can adjust and overcome. Look at his cup run with Carolina and finals appearance with the Flyers.

I would like to see;

Schenn-Giroux-Voracek
JVR-Briere-Jagr
Hartnell-Read-Simmonds
Talbot-Couturier-Rinaldo

OR is Couts cant play...

Schenn-Giroux-Voracek
JVR-Briere-Jagr
Hartnell-Talbot-Simmonds
Wellwood-Read-Rinaldo

Carle-Kubina
Timonen-Coburn
Grossman-Lilja

I would like 1 puck moving dman and 1 checking dman on each defensive unit. Grossman seems slow, so drop him down a line for now... Kubina's legs hurt then in Pitt, but NJ isnt a transition team, they need a big strong defender that can force the puck off the checking forwards of NJ.

Lavy has no answer for the trap or the forecheck. We see this time and again.

I like this except for the second line I think you gotta put Hartnell up there. Those three together is like giving the Devils a 5 on 2 if they get the flyers backed into the zone.

Lavy has the answer, it's the players that aren't doing it. The Flyers need to start moving their feet in their own zone, instead of standing around while the Devils forecheck like hell.

Smyl looks very impressed. And could MJ raise the puck any higher? It probably bounced up and hit him in the nuts.
