No question, especially early in the season, he was trying to do to much, the blind passes were ridiculous, but at the same time he was asked to do too much. They basically had a 22 year old d-man as the #1 of a group that was one of the worst in the league.

It effected his stat column and some fans expectations of him, But i doubt it will have a major effect on his development.
He probably learned alot this past year at what it takes to be the guy on defense, wether it takes up that challenge or falters is his choice as he has the tools to do it.

As an example i think Bryan Hayward as Roy's backup was a beneficial situation for Roy’s development.
