Usually when a game like this develops, there is a fight or a timeout. I wonder why none of the leaders showed any emotion. The only thing I can think of is that in their hearts they think they can beat this team while essentially throwing a game. Its a dangerous strategy - lets see if they are correct.

It's budget time here so it's pretty quiet for me too. Fiscal year ends June 30th so it should be quiet for me for a bit. Luckily I have the buzz to keep me entertained.

Horrible game. Flyers wasted a stellar performance from Bryz. But let's not get carried away, it's was as much the way the Flyers played as the Devils that resulted in that clunker - the Devils were On, the Flyers were definitely Off.

The Flyers are still the better team.

For sure, the Devils deserve credit. They supported the puck very well and kept the Flyers hemmed in their own zone.

No doubt about it. The Devils didn't quit, played hard, and as a result a lot of the bounces went their way and they are back in the series. That said, I'm betting the Flyers are never held to 2 shots in a period again nor do they make this current Devils team look like the 95 cup winners lead by Stevens, Nieds and a much younger Brodeur.

That's good because the game was basically unwatchable.

I'm talking about yesterdays game. I'm looking forward to Thursday night because what I was watching yesterday wasn't very good.

It felt like there was 3 devils to every 1 flyer.

Terribly out matched and out hustled in every aspect (coaching as well) aside from in goal. Bryz played out of his mind.

Seems like the flyers are actually going to have to work hard to win this series, who woulda thought? We saw the devils avoiding going down 2-0 in the series, and a flyers team that hoped, but didn't want to win in the third period. They need to get the forechecking going again and get bodies and picks to the net. Marty was basically taking a nap the entire 2nd period. First shot of the period around the 18 min mark? Unacceptable.

Probably because it was a one goal game up until the final few minutes. At that point if you get in a fight you could be facing a suspension for sending a message

the kiss of death was having Read score in the first couple minutes. They must have subconsciously thought, we got this. we are up 1-0 in games and we just scored on the first shot. cake walk, no pressure . . .

Honestly I have no idea how a team just completely shuts down. I serisouly though that someone spiked their water during intermission because they had no energy or effort. The other issue is that the Flyers were falling all over the ice yesterday like they were drunk.

Obviously they got outplayed and weren't drugged for you Hockeybuzz people who take things literally.

In doing some fantasy research today, I came across this preseason Sleepers and Busts forecast from the worldwide leader in sports not called hockey, ESPN.

Sure enough, leading the way in the 'busts' category -

Bust Forwards

Claude Giroux, RW/C, Philadelphia Flyers: Someone has to replace Jeff Carter and Mike Richards, and that task will fall to Giroux, who certainly deserves the shot on the heels of his team-leading 76-point season. Certainly, Giroux has a scorer's pedigree from his days with Gatineau of the QMJHL. But the Flyers are a team in transition, and joining Giroux on the top line will be someone vaguely resembling Jaromir Jagr (mullet length undetermined at press time), and that's a long way from skating with Jeff Carter on a regular basis. Perhaps we've already seen Giroux's ceiling, as there's no guarantee his point total can improve simply because half the guys he used to share his points with aren't in town anymore. Better hope they didn't take half his production along with them. -- Pierre Becquey

...and, to finish things off -

Jakub Voracek, RW, Philadelphia Flyers: Despite dealing away Jeff Carter and Mike Richards, and allowing Ville Leino to sign with the Buffalo Sabres over the summer, the Flyers remain balanced and in above-average shape in terms of talented forwards. And unfortunately for recent Columbus Blue Jackets' export Voracek, that could result in an undesirable third-line role. Assuming Jaromir Jagr plays on the Flyers' top line with Claude Giroux and James van Riemsdyk, one winger will have a chance to fight for a spot on the second line alongside Daniel Briere and Scott Hartnell. At the very least, Voracek will have to battle Wayne Simmonds for the position. And that's presuming Brayden Schenn doesn't merit the second-line center's job, moving Giroux to the wing. Plus there's the chance -- however slim -- that training camp invitee Michael Nylander could earn a gig as Jagr's centerman (they have a pleasant history), and Voracek's chances of skating as a top-six forward take an additional hit. There are too many variables at play here. Voracek has a very promising future in the NHL, but perhaps not immediately, and certainly less so with the elderly Jagr kicking about. -- Victoria Matiash

Funny how they both mention Jagr with a dash of 'over the hill' thrown in. Little did they know.
