I thought Gleason was a ufa.... doubt Jackman leaves the blues though.
I doubt Smyth will be back next year. I'd have either PRV/Thor playing with Horc and Jones though for sure - Killbot460
I don't know that I buy Smyth being a cancer or Smyth stalling the deal...tambelinni takes time to do everything. I think he'll be back. Whether he'll be effective as an 80 game player remains to be seen.

I'd give him a million for a 1 year max.... as the 13 forward. We need tough and mean mufukas out there. Like a tootoo or Boll type. Also wouldn't mind Reaves.
You also forget that the guy is only 23 and is really just starting to come into his own. Don't forget, he gets very little powerplay time, yet still potted 25 goals in 62 games. Merely looking at stats also ignores how well he plays in his own zone and on the PK. He'll never be a throughbred scorer, but he has all the tools to be a modern day Ron Francis. - Emperor Filonius
I don't think Staal is a bad player by any means but I wouldn't trade him for Yakupov by himself let alone with anything else

I'm more interested in Dan Winnik than Tootoo. He's a great penalty killer/two-way type that could play a shutdown role with Horcoff or Belanger. I think we need more of those player types as opposed to pests. At face value, one might argue that toughness gets you into the playoffs, but if you look at the teams left, they're chock full of two-way and defensive forwards.

Winnik we be a good add. He might be slightly more expensive than Tootoo this time around.

Potentially yep. - Lahey
It depends on what you could get for him in a trade. Jones has a decent shot in terms of people for Hemsky to pass to. And if we had toughness elsewhere, it wouldn't be a big deal to run him 14 minutes a game with 2-3 minutes of PP.
is the best Oilers lineup in years. P.S. I acknowledge Hemsky isn't there. I'd assume if we acquired a couple of bangers and drafted Yak we'd flip Hemsky for fairest return possible. - Morris
I'm all for this just to here commentators heads explode saying "Schultz to Schultz, Schultz passes it back to Schultz"

Hemsky at 3rd line RW probably wouldn't be a long-term solution, he'd eventually get moved.

All we need is Montreal RW Ian Schultz, Washington Dman Jeff Schultz, prospect Justin Schultz, and free agents Jesse and Ray Schultz. David Schulz and Felix Schutz will be offered try outs.
Another little tidbit: Every NHLer named Ales has played for the Oilers.

Amazing, I did not know there were that many Schultz's playing in the NHL or system...

I don't know how credible CBC is, but they reported Tambo offered Smyth a deal exactly like Bertuzzi's, and Smyth quickly turned it down.
