Such a leaf fan...signing a player with the worry or "worst case scenario" he'll sit in the press box.
How about signing a player you know wont be sitting in the press box? - Fakepartofme
If you can get him cheap, it's worth the risk. |

That's just it, isn't it....I think the Leafs need to make Vokoun their no. 1 priority. It makes sense for Luongo in Tampa anyway. - triggermartin

Considering that Vokoun took 1.5 for a supposed chance at a cup run, and the fact that TB doesn't have the cap flexibility to make a Luongo deal happen,, they'd much sooner take Vokoun if he's willing to sign at, oh, say 3.5 per, than trade actual assets to acquire Luongo.
Besides, I'm not convinced Vokoun comes here. He took a pay cut for a cup run, if he really wants to do the same shtick again he'd swing by CHI for a season - AngryWhiteMale
Simmons said late last week that Vokun came to the Leafs last summer before going to the Caps. |

No doubt the guy has skill and the finish to score, I just don't think he does it in TOR considering the microscope we've put him under.
That said, it's sad how he's the one top pick we've made that we truly were patient with.
He just won't gel under Carlyle and we all know that's a given - AngryWhiteMale

Why?? because of his age or his cap situation?
I don't see Tampa adding money. He's owed more salary than cap hit in the next few years, and he's already on the way down. It makes no sense for TB to trade for a vet on the downslope, when there are younger+cheaper options available. That's why it doesn't make sense. |

This goes for every other team in the league. If the bolts add Luongo they will be a cup contender,. Luongo is still a top 10 goalie, Yzerman likes him, and the actual salary wont be bad in a few years for a cap floor team. Plus a lot of Tampa's core is aging. Tampa makes the most sense out of any team. |

It probably wouldn't be smart for any team to take on Luongo. I just think that Cap wise, Player wise, GM wise, Position to win wise, and Luongo wise (Media), that Tampa is the best fit if he gets traded. |

Their core is aging, which makes it pointless to add more adding core.
They don't want to add salary.
I don't for a second think that TB becomes a cup contender with Luongo. |

Who would be a better fit? Can't think of anyone. He should just rot in Vancouver, them trading him will only make that franchise better, which no one wants. |

Not really he only gets paid top dollar for a few years, enough for them to win with their core. After that they have high cap hit but low salary, which is good for a floor team.. |

I don't know... CHI, but I don't think VAN trades with them. Same with the Leafs. That's why the return is going to be so low. People keep saying CLB and TB, but I don't think that makes sense for either.
EDIT: and i've heard FLA too, but with Theodore for another year and Markstom coming it makes no sense. |

I'm sure he could be. But without a no-movement clause, why would NY use assets to dump his contract when they can afford to pay it out while he plays in Hartford? |

You don't think for a minute Burke would take Redden with a good forward prospect, and then bury him in the minors like NYR did? |
