More like zero class.

He could've just said we got a grinder to play the 3rd line center duties with cup experience and were able to get a player we feel is on par with Hodgson as far as potential prospect wise. It was a good hockey trade for both teams.

He aired dirty laundry to the public and that is never a good thing.

Take a classy example -- Dany Heatley. These type of players who rip it up behind the scenes and in public are what is sickening -- not the coaches or GMs who, to some degree, tell it like it happened. I still like Hodgson and think he, like many other young players was treated like crap by AV (not Gillis). That being said he obviously was/is a cancer and a prima donna princess who whines when he doesn't get his way. He didn't deserve more than third line time in Vancouver and certainly did not produce equal to a first or second liner in Buffalo. Those are the ones with little integrity (Heatley, Hodgson, Lindros, and their ilk), not the GM who let it be known.

As for Roberts -- as good as he may be (and appears to be) as a trainer, as good as he was as a player -- he's now nothing more than a retired player whose glory days are long gone. And like Dr. Rechhi and his medical knowledge, he does not have much credibility.

Heatley publically said I want out......at least twice.

Lindros and his dad aired his/their laundry in public.

Hodgson quietly asked to be traded and has never (to my knowledge) said a peep about it.

Av, Gillis, and Roberts handled this wrong. None of the 3 took the high road on this one.

AV had 2 medical staffs telling him that Cody's injury wasn't an issue. They were wrong and AV shouldn't have said anything about it, but it was pretty innocuous. The bigger issue was the failure of the medical staff(s), not AV speculating on why a kid who is not supposed to be injured isn't as good as advertised.

All this stuff gets blown way out of proportion. Gillis didn't say anything about Cody other than that he didn't want to play in Vancouver and dealing with his issues was time consuming. So they dealt him.

He's a good player who wanted a bigger role than he was getting. And now he's yours. Enjoy him.

Calling Gillis a Dud is out of line. Again just say I dk where that comes from. In my dealings with Hodgson he's shown great desire and determination to become a more complete Hockey player.

Ya I agree that was a better way to voice your opinion.... Roberts and Gillis seem to be held in high regard in their respective fields.

Vancouver media is the real guilty ones here.....

Still don't think AV should have made those comments.

By the way, I'm a Canuck fan, so unless he gets traded back to the Canucks, I'll have to enjoy him on the opposing team.

When the door is closed, one thing. When it's open, another. Hodgson is apparently the only person in this whole mess that understood this, yet he's the whiny primadonna. Check.

Agreed... I give Gillis a little bit more leeway on the issue because he was being constantly bombarded by the vancouver media since the trade happened. He felt the need to justify the trade... and as unfair as it may have been to make those statements... they are still true and hopefully acts as a wake up call to Cody's agent and family. You can't complain your way to the top... you have to earn it.

Yeah, sure fine. Again I see it as more reason for Hodgson to be glad for his new opportunity. Gillis I would hope will think better next time reporters are asking him a few tough questions of course.

Yes, or he would have the opportunity to develop in that environment he wouldnt get here, and we were able to add an asset we coveted in return.

Rather than the passive aggressive breakup speech he delivered.

Sorry, I'm still working on it.

Or I thought I answered all of this months ago at the deadline.

I'm not comfortable talking about a player that now plays for a different organization. It was a good hockey trade for both teams and that is the last time I will talk about this issue. Next question please.

But how often do we hear these players, coaches, gm, and anyone else involved in any situation give these cliche one liners?

I was genuinely curious as to why Cody was traded... and now I know... it doesn't excuse the poor timing of the trade... but it at least gives some closure as to why Cody was dealt.

I pay alot of money each year to watch this team play... and I've invested alot emotionally and financially.. and I deserve to know why certain things happen.

Its a breath of fresh air when these guys are honest... and then people blast them when they are. I guess its true... you're damned if you do... and damned if you don't.

Was Kassian a pain? I knew he had a bit of character issues (immaturities) but did he do something specific?

As do I but unless it's your name that signs the checks, we don't have the right to know why.

Again just an IMO.
