Would be cool if the leafs do something like this, this summer without going after Nash.

Kessel Parise/Stasny Lupul

Stewart Grabo Kadri

Frattin Colborne Bozak

Langenbrunner Stecks Brown

Blacker Phaneuf

Gardiner Schenn

Liles Franson

Bernier
Reimer

I keep dropping claymore mines around the neighbourhood....police say they cant pin it on me, but my neighbours say they always hear me playing COD in the garage full volume while screaming "THIS IS NOTHING LIKE REAL LIFE".

Never. Leaf fans have such lowered expectations that they actually think players like Bozak are good yet he wouldn't make most teams in the league.

Can't blame them, when we miss the playoffs for a decade that tends to happen.

We've actually had players we've put on our first line back in the day that once we finally realized they suck, not one NHL team bothered to pick them up (Johnus Hoglund) Yet on our team, first liner lol

- HankMoody89

For his salary, Bozak is providing good value.

Unfortunately for the players, most fans do not judge them based only on their play anymore.

Examples:

Bozak @ 1.5 mil is a good player
Bozak @ 4.5 mil would be a dog

Komisarek @ 2 mil would be acceptable
Komisarek @ 4.5 mil is an overpaid 6 th dman who is tying up valuable cap space

That's exactly whi I can't see Nash coming to Toronto. His 7.8 mil, maximum 60 point year would be too much for most fans to handle, it wouldn't work. Nash as a player would be a good fit but not as a salary.

If I were part of the NHLPA I would ask that player salaries not be revealed in exchange for a maximum 5 year contract agreement. The amount of stress players go through because the team they play for threw a wad of cash at them is a heavy burden.

This way fans get to judge players for what they are, not how much they get paid.

Notice how many low-salary teams made the playoffs this year?

Notice how many Canadian teams spend alot of $ but didn't make the playoffs?

I like how people are putting Players at Center who do not play center ... We have taken the next step... instead of putting 3rd liners as #1 centers, we just put anyone there

He'll go in for Percy, who was there to replace him in the first place. They may be a winning team right now, but the defense was making a lot of mistakes in the games other than game 3. Percy has looked great at times, but like rookie at others. He'll have plenty of time to develop.

noticed this as well

i don't see a 1C being signed. Carlyle tried Steckel on the top line, it's possible Colborne gets a shot at it (if carlyle could get him to be a physical force it may work). Not saying Colborne is the savoir, just saying a 6'5 center with hands may get a shot.

This is why I think he ends up with Luongo. Unlike the 1C a quality goaltender is available and won't cost the farm. Buys him another year where more options may be available or even a prospect might be good to go.

I know Stewart is in the doghouse but i would welcome him in a heartbeat.

Brilliant, this is why Wilson was fired, he never tried komi up front where his superior vision and hands would have let him excel!

Perhaps "average" but not maximum. And he doesn't play center, so I don't see him being much use here unless Lupul goes. If Lupul continues to put up similar numbers, even with a contract extension, he's going to be a bargain compared to Nash.

Canadian teams spend to the cap because that's what expected of them in their markets; it's just the way it is and will likely always be (especially while the CDN dollar is strong too).

Canadian teams make up 23% of the league and 6 of them are in two divisions; the odds are never going to be in our favour of making the playoffs.

Luongo and no #1 center next season....

Desperate Burke is bad news for us.

I say find a cheaper Vet goalie... Keep the #5 pick, pray a Center falls to us... or make a trade up/down if needed get the best Center available. play the Vet goalie/Reimer/scrivens whoever wants to play the best

There's a lot of players to add, but who's leaving to make room? As far as I know, there's a 50 player contract limit for each team. To add Carlyle type players to the 3rd and 4th line, you're going to have to take out the players already there; and I don't see many teams lining up to take Lombardi, Armstrong, or Connolly with their contracts. Same for Komisarek. As I see it, Leafs are stuck with them until the end of their contracts, which thankfully is only 1 more year. You can bury them in the minors to save cap room if you want, but they are still part of your 50 contract limit. Unless they play well next year and Burke can find a taker mid-season, or if a team needs to take on extra salary just to make the salary floor. Otherwise, I can't see anyone trading for them this summer.
