Rihanna. She was so hot, now shes a (frank)ing druggy. Sad. - Sabreshark
I always thought she was hot, but she has a monstrous forehead. She's hot despite it but she'd be unreal if she got that thing sanded down or something.
I have no idea what you are talking about, and at no point did I say any of you were bad guys, just cause you troll doesn't mean you're bad guys. - Rayven

The reason why there are no Canadian teams left is because they all either did not qualify for the playoffs or lost in the first round. Come on Ek, get your poop together. - broadstreetbully12
This is by far the best explanation. Occam's Razor everyone.
Toronto stinks because they're stupid- the Rangers took a few years, but finally accepted how one must live in a cap world- lots of building through the draft, and signing/trading for the CORRECT superstars to complement the team already in place; Toronto, which is probably the second richest franchise in the league (so much for the 'Canadian teams have no money' stereotype) needs to get to that point, and then they will be successful. Trading all of your draft picks when you stink makes you.....the Milbury Islanders...not a successful franchise.
Montreal stinks because they and their fans haven't realized it's not 1955- the French-Canadian players aren't the fastest, highest scoring players on the planet anymore. Teams actually DO win Cups without having a French speaking coach. I know this is difficult to swallow, but it's fact, and until these people stop living on some other planet, their team will always be mediocre.
As for the others, the Canucks are the disappointment of the last couple of years....they seem to be the San Jose of this decade....champions of the regular schedule....you know the saying: that and $5 will allow you to leave Starbucks with something to drink. Calgary is poorly managed. Winnipeg is a decent team, but it remains to be seen whether they can move beyond that.
All of that said, as for the answer to the question posed, I'll go with either Edmonton- first pick in the draft, three times in a row....FIRST pick- if you eff that up, you might as well shoot yourself......or Ottawa, who was clearly one good solid performance away from taking out New York- to me, the best team in the league, at this point. They have most of the pieces- maybe another bruiser on the backline would put them over the top. FWIW.....
Because all top Canadian talent play for US based teams!! - StanleyCupDreams
Rangers have alot of US talent...non sens. US is getting better at hockey! They are player the same type of game and better. Investment in the sport helped them alot. Canada should invest more and get another team...like the Noiques. This will increase the odds and chances to win a cup in the nest 5 years....it's coming. Slowly. Bettman is not in this, stop this non sense guys! Ottawa was in the finals 5 years ago...its pretty much every 5 years that we have a ligitimate chance...chack last year!! They choke that's it.

Ottawa will look like the Red Wings in two years! Beleive me. We are already playing playoff system hockey all years long which gives us enough wins to get in. It's not the best sytem in season, but it prepares you to play very solid in the playoff (more prepared thatn other theam). Next year we will have veteran, middle class players and top prospect in the team. Add maybe a big defensive defenseman and we should get past a team like Rangers in 5 or 6.
Love point 5. Maybe the reason you are being manhandled in world juniors lately is that your players lack heart. 5 of the 8 teams left have a US captain. Perhaps a
trend?
Yes a bit of trolling but it's also strangely true. The sport is growing and it's harder to win. - onac22
Canada isn't winning the world Juniors as often, because the development system has gotten too good, and the top young Canadian players go straight into the NHL, and don't get to play. Think a team featuring Tavares, Stamkos, Doughty, etc. wouldn't steamroll every other team?
If all you guys want to discuss ratings you may be missing the obvious. Eklund's site is losing ratings by the hour with Canadian teams out, therefore he posts a controversial subject designed to antagonize the Canadian fan. Yes, we do control a lot of the success that the NHL has it's foolish to think otherwise. It does not mean that Americans aren't good hockey fans but you also have MANY more distractions for your hard earned dollar. We have one baseball team and one basketball team in the entire country. New York DWARFS that alone. You can go back and forth all day about who's the better fan, who drives the market, who's got the biggest ... fan base (where did you think I was going with that? LOL) but the bottom line is we need each other. The NHL needs the Canadian passion (read money, viewership, attendance, etc) and it needs the US because of the sheer size and amount of capital it provides or better still can provide from untapped markets. Deciding which one is more important is futile, both are required in order for the business model to work.
