At the time I think it had to be done. People just weren't showing up for games. That's inexcusable, especially when you had a young superstar like Modano. I think it was a no-brainer that they'd get a team back eventually.
No, I literally dont know what, if any previous hockey history existed in Nashville. - Buffalo--Sabres
I know. It defies logic. It is like they threw a dart at a map...Oh Nashville, poop. WTF is in Nashville? Do they have any pro sports? Tennessee Titans in 1997. No pro sport history. So, should we throw the dart again or give it a try?
Please understand, I am not disrespecting the good people of Nashville. I am wondering what Bettman was thinking.
Why are there no Canadian teams? Because for the most part they suck. I don't think anything about them being Canadian teams gives them a right to be in the playoffs. Despite the media trying to paint this as a crisis, its actually just the normal flow of things. Remember how many Canadian teams came so close to winning the cup? Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa and the Canucks just needed a win or two more. We're fine.
Canucks: Great team. Stick with it, keep trying to work around the core. Replace some players and support the ones you keep there.
Oilers: Up front LOADED! Establish your D!. Time will come for them to "turn it up" and start making trades to speed things up
Flames: Keep Iginla... may trade kipper, although feaster could turn that thing around in 16 months in my opinion.
Winnipeg: Very close to playoff ready. Kane along with Enstrom and captain Ladd are keepers. May need to attract a star via free agency or trade (Schf on the way soon)
Leafs: They need STABILITY! They need to play full 82 games. On paper their better than their record this year. Loungo on the back end and rearranging their D (not moving everyone out) may change the face of the team--- they need an identity
Sens: Great season! (alfie 400th in OT, Phillips 1000th game, karlsson 78 pts norris nom., Paul M, jack adams nom., Spezza 4th in league scoring)... Silfverberg, Stone, coming into. Zibanejad scoring game wiiner--- BUT.... nothing is certain. Off season (training!) is key for this team next season. Expectations have risen
Canadiens: Rebuild? No. Regroup? Yes. Got alot of pieces. Re-sign Price. Subban needs to continue to evolve. Pleks, Patch + Dejarins ... I can see them regroup as well but I would hope, as a Habs fan, them being more patient than Calgary, Ottawa.
My Fav: Canucks next year.... then
1. Oilers
2. Sens
Why? Young teams. CORE players are young. Oilers young players with TONS of star potential. EDM will need to supplement that offence and build up their D. Offensively minded d-men (along with Whitney) that can get the puck to them. Same with the Senators. Silfverberg has the ability to put this team on his back at some point. Cowen, Karlsson, Turris are all the same age (21 years old). Jason Spezza will lead the way at 29. Not to mention the squad in Zibanejad, Stone, Puempel, and Noesen all top prospects for the Sens
See those poll results? We're at 33%! Too bad, really... all we needed was 18.8%...
EDIT:Hope I'm not, like, the fiftieth person to make that joke... can't be bothered to read 13 pages of comments to find out.
leafs shouldnt get Fa's that dont make sense... Nash doesnt really fit, Parise sorta does but i dont know if we should put so much money into him... I dont believe in him as a star on a team but more of a guy that can really help a team filled with great puck handlers... He would be outstanding on the rangers.... I think the perfect fit in T.O is Eric Staal, he would help our team a ton and fill a ton of our needs. leadership size skill number one center another scorer, power play... Everything.
Its cool, hopefully for your sake Ek will keep New York Islanders as a favorite team option like he did for the Atlanta Thrashers when they moved. - Buffalo--Sabres
