Yeah, it's enough to make you puke. 10-15 points for some teams and they're in/on the playoff bubble....makes you look back at the close games that got away and the ones where leads were squandered....and want to strangle the functing coach. - jmo16
try being out by only 2-3 points in 3 of 5 years, then watching Danny Briere killing it in these playoffs. I want to strangle many people. |

you do get a lot, A LOT of support from southern ontario, and it would be ignorant to suggest otherwise. - Nastradamus
Of course they do. Just like every team gets support from their surrounding area in every direction. Just because they have to cross a bridge to come to the games and they have a different colored plate on their car isn't that big a deal. Some of those people have a shorter drive to the game then my friends in Rochester do.
Lots of people go to Flyers games from NJ too. No one knocks the Flyers for having out of State fans. By buddy in Ossining has Devils seasons. They son't get knocked for drawing from New York.
It would be far more significant financially if the Sabres got on TV in southern Ontario. Last I heard they're exploring this. |

All Canadians do are drive up prices. Demand is far outpacing supply. A far greater problem exists in the ACC, thats why they make it to our building in the first place. There are definitely Sabres fans right over the border in Fort Erie, Niagara falls, St Catherinnes, Port Colborne, Welland, but those are relatively small areas. How many Sabres jerseys do you see in Missasauga? How about in sports bars in Toronto? Not really.
As far as them getting on TV in southern Ontario that was a Larry Quinn thing. That guy always had crazy ideas. Most of which sucked, some were good. If Larry had his way the nhl would literally be playing with nets with angled goal posts. From a bunsiness standpoint some Buffalo businesses would love to advertise to southern Ontario, and others would consider it a waste. |

Pittsburgh has been driving prices up lately as well. It's not so much being close to Canada (although it helps) as being well below the average league ticket price. The Bills are too. If prices were anywhere near what they charged at the ACC or the Bell Centre, you wouldn't see such a Canadian influx. Detroit is the same way. For being "Hockeytown", they sure have some pretty low ticket prices, both in the primary and secondary markets.

The advertisers would be advertising to Canadians. Remember when people still watched TV with Antennas? Channel 29's commercials were mostly Canadian products like Canadian Tire and Aero Bar.

It was during the World Juniors. He was complementing Buffalo on what a great show they put on for it, which was true...mostly because of the Canadians. |

Many Canadian cable/satellite providers in Southern Ontario still provide Buffalo's local OTA affiliates (NBC, Fox, CBS, etc.).
Hell, the majority of TV Canadians watch is "American" programming. |

That was Eklunds first mistake....he assumed it was just Americans attending that tourny. Perhaps he didn't realize how close to the border Buffalo is.

The locals (Americans) barely showed up to the tournament at all. It was really a shame. On one hand, the WJC only has a real viewership in Canada, which is fine, but it was kind of hypocritical when the same people beating their chests about what a great hockey market we are because we got the tournament were the same ones making a billion excuses as to why they didn't show up. And then they got all mad because Canadians showed up and were "obnoxious". |

I hopped the border yesterday for some Swiss Chalet chicken and Coffee crisp bars. The whiskey at the duty free was a bonus. |

Your a tool of the media. You should move to Florida and watch fox news 24/7 and talk about how George W Bush should be president till the end of time. You'll fit right in.
Guess what? German Shephards, Rottwilers, Dobermans, Mastiffs, Huskys, Irish Wolfhounds to name a few are just as, if not more dangerous than Pitbulls. Have you looked at unbiased bite statisics since your province enacted that law in 2005? Did you know your MPP's voted down the law twice this year by a 2 to 1 margin. Did you know they only reason it has not been removed is because it needs to be called for a 3rd vote and it being blocked by 3 MPP's who will not be re-elected and thier terms have just not expired yet? |

I know very little about this sort of thing, but I was once told by someone that knows a thing or two about dog breeding that the reason that pit bulls get such a bad rap is that they are so closely inbred, which lead to much more problems than they're worth. |

I agree I would never own a dog for just protection...which seems to be the primary 1st characteristic of dogs such as German sheps , Rotties , Dobbermans, Mastiffs ...but I had to laugh when you included Huskies in there because of the last incident YOU heard in the media....speaking of media groupies...looks like your drinking the koolaid.
Huskies are one of the most gentle dogs I've ever owned. Agressive compared to pit bulls my arse. |

It became evident that most people in Buffalo dont know much about hockey. I remember people questioning me that I was going to "that kids tournament?" The same people who insist that if your are not named Pomminville or Kaleta you are nothing in the hockey world. |

It's no different than an NCAA tournament, except it's on an international scale...and you were allowed to buy alcohol at the event. I was shocked that they were selling beer during the games at Niagara University. |

I didnt hear anything about a husky incident. Not all dogs are friendly. Those dogs are capable of doing serious damage.
I also dont own dogs for protection. I dont even consider myself a dog "owner". I take care of them. I'm not even sure my dogs would truly be able to protect me if I needed them to. In a home invasion they would likley get hurt and I would be protecting them. Anyone who owns a reckless untrained dog for protection is a (frank)ing idiot and will more likely be attacked by the dog themselves or a friend or family member before it ever helps them out. |

Thats what I told people but it didn't register. The WJ tourny is amazing. Its the kind of wide open offensive hockey the NHL wishes it had. |
