I can see this .Canucks woul be drafting 35 instead of 30 th.So Kadri and Schenn for Lu essentially
- VANTEL

Canucks first rounder is 22nd this year. Playoff teams draft positions are determined by placing in the playoffs. Canucks were the best team eliminated in first round, so, 8 +14 non playoff teams = 22nd not 30th.....and no way I'd make that deal, our first is not going anywhere with Lu....

Why on earth would Luongo waive to go to the worst team in the league? COME ON

and leafs fans, stop dreaming thinking we will be taking Komi's contract back. We are bargaining in the position of power, we do not have to move luongo, if Schneider goes, he will be happy to stay, and Burke has to make the playoffs next year.

I think its Gunnarsson or your pick if Leafs were to end up in TO which i dont think he will

Are you serious???? Who is going to give up a young defenseman, a top prospect and a 2nd round pick for a late 1st rounder and a 33-year-old goalie with a NMC in a contract that has 10 years left and a $5.3 million cap hit??? Come on. I know you're a Sens fan but even you can see how ridiculous that is.
- Phenom

You mean a soft top prospect who will be a career AHLer because he's too soft to play at the NHL level? See mason Raymond......

No your not... luongo asked to be traded... if everyone knows he wants out no one is gonna pay for it... your literally in the exact opposite position than a position of power

I have no interest in Malone, id rather keep Luongo. Drag this one out and get what we need this off season. A top 2 defenceman and top 6 winger. Free up capspace, and give weber an offer sheet. Yes, im serious. With a tighter budget, bring up Schroeder or even Jensen. Gotta take a chance on these kids, look at Couturier(sp?)
- lkeh73

A top 2 d-man and top 6 winger will cost you.....the only way to do that is to get rid of Luongo's contract, especially when you have to sign Schneider and that will be at least a $3.5 million cap hit. Think about it. And chances are you will have to take some salary back if you expect a good pick or prospects back for Luongo. That's the reality of the situation.

First of all Lu has a NTC not NMC
Second when a player is traded his NTC does not go with him.
Lu is 33 and his contract is a 6 year contract for 40 mil that the other teams ned to worry about .The last 4 years of his contract equal 5 mil total .A very easy buy out.
You will be taking on a goalie who will be 39 same age as Brodeur who is laying today in round 2 .Knowing the facts helps.

When teams acquire prospects, they are buying potential, and Kadri has tons of it. No matter what you've seen from him so far or how the Leafs have handled him, his skill set speaks for itself. There's value in that. Some players take longer to develop than others and end up being great NHLers. See Cody Hodgson.......

No one can confirm Lu asked for a trade, and if he did, it is because he doesn't want to split time with Cory next year. he wants to be the guy, that is all

Really......... can we move on from the Lu to Toronto debate. Burke doesn't want a 33 year old goalie with 10 years left on his contract nor do leaf fans.

Leaf fans don't want Lu and Vancouver fans want the key to the vault for Lu so we'll just both agree to disagree.

most of burkes moves have been good... theres no way he can be considered worse than JFJ...

You will not find too many people taking Burkes side on the Kessel deal.

See who is laughing next year when Leafs trying to figure out who to play goals while CBJs and Lu make the playoffs.

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure the NTC remains with the contract even if a player waives it....but I could be wrong. So you buy out the last 4 years of the deal and are stuck with partial cap hit for the next 8 years? No thanks. You might wanna contact the Islanders. And don't compare Luongo to Brodeur just yet.....

The difference is Cody was playing a regular shift on one of the leagues top teams . Kadri a couple of games on a team not making the playoffs. To me this means there is a big seperatin between players.

haha, you are not going to sell many fans by comparing a player to Cody the whiner. We put a lot of make up on that guy before shipping that guy to the Sabers for something we actually need. Hopefully Burke can dope another GM like Gillis did, best of luck with that

Read the article on Lu I posted .Lu's stats on SV% and GAA are better. Broduer had the luxory of playing on some very good defensive trap teams for years. His style is suited for the Devils. Lu has played on some piss poor teams.

And how long did it take for him to get there???? And as soon as he finally rose to that level, you shipped him off for a wannabe Milan Lucic that will never reach that. I have a feeling Hodgson will end up making everyone in Vancouver regret that deal.

I stood by that deal when it was made and I still stand by it today. The reason and the ONLY reason people wanna bash the trade is because the Leafs ended up finishing 2nd last. If they were even middle of the pack that season, there would be no debate about it.
