Everyone seems to assume the Oilers offense is dynamite already... well, its not.
Adding Yak gives the Oilers 2 legit scoring lines with elite skill and gives them just that many more offensive options.
Its a no brainer to pick him, hopefully Tambi gets creative and adds the right peices to surround this core.

I dunno if it's been pointed out on here, but on Justin Schultz's page on NHL.com, he's got Edmonton listed as his favorite place to visit. Weird I know, but something to think of. If you add him to our D next season I think we're a lot better.
I'd bet he's going to Edm, Tor or Van; really all three have legit reasons as to why he'd go to each. |

Bobby Mac seems to think he could end up in Edmonton, they can offer him playing time and a chance to grow up with the best under-22 core in the NHL.
Perfect situation for him.

Of course its not. Far from it.
We had 1 legit scary line. 2- 1/2's if u will, when they were split up. When those 3 kids were shutdown... We didnt stand a chance.
Id love a power forward or a legit dman, but we cant afford to pass up on a player of yaks caliber. We dont have that luxury. |

Yup, Now they can run 2 elite offensive weapons on 2 lines and spread the wealth.
Other teams can have fun trying to shut down the 4 of them.

Add a little bulk/size alongside those 4 and we have an extremely formidable top 2 lines.

But gagners improved marginally!
Hes average offensively now!!
And a little better than brutal at everything else! And his size doesnt matter on an already small top 6!
And hes loyal!

Ryan Clowe is not getting traded, especially not for a lame package that includes Omark.
Not to be a Richard, but theres a reason why guys like him, Stewart, Backes, Lucic, Getzlaf, Brown, Benn, Morrow, Hartnell, Malone, etc are never really traded.
Power Fowards don't grow on trees. - mochoson
I would say Stewart can be traded this off-season. The guy is in Hitchcock's dog house. Just not getting his chance or his play is crapshoot in STL. I would suggest EDM try for Stewart rather than Clowe as he maybe a lower cost option. I'd try Omark, Belanger, and a prospect for Stewart. |

I see a lot of requests for coaches that are good with kids. Well, I don't know if it's obvious but the Chosen Ones are adults too. We need a coach that can work well with the whole roster, someone that can implement a system that benefits both the veterans and young players. |

Ive considered marleau for awhile. Hes a talented center who would improve us dramatically at 2nd center. And hes a big fuker. something ive harped about for ages.
But hes pretty soft and non commital physically for such a big body.
Although he'd be a huge improvement, id be willing to take a less talented guy with a little more 'sandpaper' or tenacity.
Come alot cheaper too i bet |
