He's a two time Vezina and Conn Smythe, Cup winning goalie who you witnessed first hand. He may be 38 but at 5 million dollars and no long term commitment, I highly doubt he gets a crappy return. There is at least one team out there that could use him for one year and then extend him for another.

Hell, if Vancouver deals Luongo to Columbus as a part of a deal for Nash, Tampa Bay still needs a goalie and Yzerman would probably jump all over Thomas. There are half a dozen teams looking for a goalie or an improvement in net.

Thomas won't lower the market, if anything, he'll help maintain it or make it stronger with whatever his price tag is.

Fast forward to today and not only has the team lost faith in him but so have a lot of fans. Not all of them, maybe not even half of them but enough of them to realize that it's time to go in a different direction.
