La hausse des droits de scolarité passerait de 1625 $ à 1778 $, sur 7 ans au lieu de 5 ans. Hausse donc de 82% sur 7 ans

He actually offers them a bigger raise.

But they protect 2 years. Who knows if the re-elected Charest wouldn't have increased tuiton by another 500 those 2 years? Plus, its less steep (which many students have been asking for).

70 bucks less per year.

Yeah, but the previous hike was a total 75% hike over 5 years.

It's now 82% over 7 years.

2 thousand dollars, you pay 2 (frank)ing thousand dollars for (frank) sakes, work at mcdonalds for one month in the summer and pay for your (frank)ing tuition for a year
- Oilhab

Bump for you

The increase doesn't really touch me, I'm quite fortunate to have parents for whom the tuition is really important and that's why they pay my fees. But I have friends who are affected by it.

I have one friend who is alone in a small 3/1/2. Working 20 hours a week (which is too much for a University student, but he just ended Cégep), and he could survive during Cégep because it's really cheap but now he has to go to U and he might be fine for the first semester, but since he won't have much income during it, he will be short for the second. He's having trouble arriving right now, can't even imagine when he's gonna do his mastery in 5 years.

honestly I'm a university student I work 60-70 hours a week in the summer, to be able to afford the life decision that i make. My family is hardly middle class, I make enough money to cover myself and the people around me when they need it.

What I hear coming out of those Quebec students, it's a bunch of ungrateful spoiled (frank)s whining.

It's not true that most of the university students are from rich families.

And that's exactly why the people are protesting against the raise, because it could very well happen one day that only the rich could afford the University.

They have no stats to back that out, they just threw that out there.

- QuebecPride

I would say most university students come from backgrounds that are at the very least middle class.

It's his only chance to gain votes , because unlike usually when he has 30% of the pop with him, half of the population is for the raise. If he stands strong he might have won a few votes...

And if he announces elections before Charbonneau he might even get elected, but once all the corruption is revealed, he know he's cooked.

Why bring this up again, didn't you cry to howard about how your dad died last time?

You are still one of the ones complaining about the hike, I don't give a poop if your rich mom pays for the 2 grand a year, 2 grand is nothing and when compared to the other provinces"you" (frank)ers shouldn't be crying about anything let alone rioting about it.

Ostie que j'ai honte d'être Sherbrookois right about now.

Honestly what you guys pay is literally a fraction of what we pay in Ontario, and literally PENNIES compared to what's paid south of the border. (Plus McGill gives (frank)ing preference to French Canadians, which is bogus, considering it's a world class institution)

It may feel like the morally just thing to do, and it probably is, but this pipedream's fantastic until someone has to pay for it (the tax payer's dollar of course, some of my socialist peers seem to think that the government can just print money when they need to spend it)

We have a great system in place, as is.

Working 20 hours a week is not too much for a university kid, many people do it and have to pay a much higher tuition.

Maybe they don't get to party as much as the ones getting a free ride but thats it.

If they want to advance in life they will find a way, if they sit back and whine about it, they don't deserve a helping hand or any respect.
