I'm not exactly sure Paajarvi is a bust. Geez, he's a kid. Give him a few years.

Take a look at how many years until the Sedins made an impression in the league. Or Forsberg.

No, you don't get it.

Who was the MVP for the Coyotes in the 1st round? Torres. A 4th line player took out of the series the player who was the best Hawks forward all season. That's value on the dollar.

MPS isnt a bust till he's no longer an oiler, till then, time will tell, people do sometimes get better after a couple seasons.

Okay, here's a question I didn't even touch on in the blog: What if Luongo did submit a list, and it did have the Oilers name on it? And what if the Canucks were actually open to making a deal?

If you're the Oilers, are you interested? How much is good goaltender Luongo with his terrible contract worth? And please, don't say "Paajarvi". He's the default player everyone using whenever they talk about the Oilers making a deal. "Oh, we'll give you Paajarvi for..." Poor guy has been dealt 1,000 times already.

- Maxbone

His contract is fine. He gets paid productively through his good years (until 38-39) and then he retires if he sucks. Broduer is 39 right now and he makes 100K less. Lu is currently the much better player. I'm not an economist, but money should get less valuable with inflation and all that.

Give us a blue chipper and you can have Lu and a draft pick or something. Not that I really think Gillis will deal Lu to you, because Lu really is too good to face 6 times a year against a divisional rival. But I'd do it for any of your top line.

Kulikov is a solid player, there's no doubt about that.

well that only does the oil any good if they make the playoffs next year. Taking out a teams best player in the regular season isnt gonna do them much good.

I'd love for us to grab another first rounder either through trading Hemmer or Gags and grab us Tom Wilson, Girgensons or Dansk. Dansk might be had in the second round though. But grooming our own Lucic doesn't hurt.

I would do that trade to get Lucic and Hamilton for sure. Wishful thinking though.

I wouldn't give up much for Luongo's contract. We know he'll be dealt to someone. It will be interesting to see what comes back to Vancouver in return. My guess is, it's absolutely nothing on the level of Hall/Ebs/Nuge/Yaks.

True, but all you do is not play idiot Torres until the playoffs.

Kulikov and Gudbranson could be a pretty damn solid pair for them in the near future.

so bury him in the minors till playoff time? I like your analytical thinking. Suspensions in the minors wont be near as many games

PRV has size, speed, talent, a decent work ethic and attitude

How is that a bust? He might not live up to expectations

but it is way too early to judge a young guy. I bet there are

lots of examples of players that need time and don't bust.

I don't think Vancouver will get too much for Luongo... the cap space they free will be far more valuable than the actual returns.

It seems that edmonton fans are undervaluing Luongo by alot... he will surprise you in what he gets.

People look at his contract and think its ridiculous... when in reality its actually quite fair... he is way too competitive to play too past his prime... if he isn't a starter at age 38/39... he will retire... there is also another out clause where he can be traded in a few years.

If Gomez can be dealt and get a decent return... anyone can

Unfortunately the cap space saved will most likely only end up being around 1.5 million.... maybe 2 million at the most. Not a huge relief that some may believe.

Could we see huge names move at the Draft?

Luongo, Iginila, Marleau, Parise, Nash

Could be real hockey trades. Any chance a team tries to get 2 big names

and completely revamp their club?
