Man I would buy a Fasth jersey instantly if the Oil signed him. Insane goaltender.
The Luongo scenarios to TO are not without merit. Burke traded for him from florida no? So he's comfortable with that management. TO is in desperate need of a #1 goalie (supposedly anyway, I think Wilson's poop system was mainly to blame) who better than an actual #1 vet goalie? So it has life outside the "TO is the hockey universe".
I'm glad the Kitchener boy is getting some notice. Oilers prospect pool is much deeper in quality than most people think - Boosinicka

That is not a good trade for the canucks... Vinny having 7.8 million does not equal Lu at 5.3 million just because they both have long contracts. - kneughter
No kidding. I love Vinny from his dominant days, but he's a 20-25 goal guy now. His contract needs a whole lot more circumventing to make him worthwhile. Still my favourite player from NHL 2008.
ok so how bout this suggestion
yaks for- kulikov,gubbranson
gags, 2nd round pick- gormely
and all of a suden the d looks franking unreal - bleedingcopper
If I'm trading Yak to Florida, I want Huberdeau, Kulikov and their 2012 first or 2013 first.
Gags and a 4th for Gormley. I think they can afford to let him go since they have Rundblad, Summers, and Murphy.

You know how many people have suggested the only way Tampa takes Lu is if we take Vinny?
"long contract for another long contract".... apparently some people do not understand how contracts work. Media has convinced fans that lengthy contracts are the devil... THE DEVIL.....
A little too much for Yakupov, and not enough for Gagner. Why should the proven asset cost more than the unproven one? - Jack-artist
People get boners for mysteriousness.
Well Huberdeau is also unproven and not on the same level as Yakupov. Yakupov would've gone 1st overall last year too. Not sure how good Kulikov becomes since I haven't seen too much of him. He seems to be trending up but will he be another mild mannered top 4 guy or a top 2 guy, don't know.
I can agree with you on me undervaluing Gagner.
Edit`: maybe Gagner for Gormley and a 2nd. Turris did fetch Rundblad and a 2nd.
Oh yeah, there's definitely very little risk with him... I just think people are expecting too much of him at the moment. - laughs2907
For me, it`s not so much that I expect a 40 or 50 point breakout season next year from him, it's that I want to see Tambellini go hard after someone that has that kind of potential especially when we could use that type of Dman.

Russians are a tricky breed.... is that racist?
Anyways... its hard to say if he even stays in the NHL for an extended period of time... (yes I know he has been in NA for awhile)... or if he becomes another head case (filatov)
I believe he will be a great player... but you want to trade a unproven player who hasn't played 1 game in the NHL with proven players... including a proven top 4 dman.

I would say stereotypical not racist.
Anyways, I see the validity in your point but you have to remember the price tag on the 1st overall pick. But that's all you can do is trade the unproven potential 1st overall for proven players. I can't see many GM's trading the 1st overall for the 3rd, the 33rd and the 63rd. Or the 1st overall for another unproven player with a lower ceiling and maybe another pick. I just can't see it happening nor as a GM would I do it.
Edit: when i say all you can do, I mean all that makes sense.. for me anyways.
Nope. All sorts of rumors he was signed, but there is no official word for the team, the MSM or the player himself. Last word was, the Ducks were offering a one-way deal, but the player was waiting to see if any other teams would make an offer.

If Eberle and Hemsky wasn't enough to get us Seguin at the draft, then Yakupov is definitely worth at least Lucic, Hamilton, and a first rounder. And that was back when Hemsky was still a point per game player and not injury prone.
