Yes.

You know, those who can - do.
Those that can't - teach.

He had what I would call a "yo-yo" career. Multiple times sent down to the minors over the course of his career. Not what I would say is a good role model for knowing a lot about hockey, at least if you take into account career stats.

Well if you believe Stanbow's comments in the presser the goal is to win the Stanley Cup every year. Q didn't deliver that despite the great players the idiot GM brought in to help him achieve the objective - you know the Brunettes, Montadors, Morrisson.

Got news for Stanley - very few NHL coaches can turn chicken sh$t into a delicious chicken salad. But the GM never gets fired before his coach does.

- RickJ

Trotz has been doing it for years.

Mmmmmmm....Chicken Salad.

Do you lump Scotty and Stan Bowman together? I bet Stan has his daddy on speed dial. Reviewing Stan's resume he never excelled at being a GM but was an outstanding coach. Yes Stan is very head strong, but I get the feeling Stan was never meant to be a GM and influences his son in bad decisions.

Yes, I'd have to think they are a package deal.

Wouldn't Tippett fall into that catagory too? Hitchcock seems to have turned the Blues into something too.

Trotz has always had goaltending. And Nashville got rid of Brunette in the 1990's.

Keep a bookmark in the Bowman/Q situation. There may be another chapter yet to be written very soon.
- John Jaeckel

Q. controlled the roster which was lite to begin with...He played Bruno, Scott, OD often but hardly ever Lepisto.

Maybe playing Bruno when he can't put a shoe on says something about what they thought about Morin....Couldn't wait to play Saad out of Jr's ahead of him too.

This was the year to load up at the deadline so injuries could have been absorbed.....Instead another path was chosen.

I don't remember if it was Al's article (great as always, Al) or a JJ comment earlier, but someone mentioned the possibility of the rift between Stan and Q blowing up soon. I would think if they were reassigning Q they would do it before the playoffs end.
- NewToHockey

I didn't mention anything about a blowup about to happen but I did write today about Q. being in a no lose position.

any of you see Kop blow-up his own team mate...Madden?

Madden has the puck moving up center ice and Kop for some reason turns right into him. Madden never saw it coming!

Another reason I am in favor of a new 3 and 4.. We have no real weapon on the point in PP. We saw Bolland, Sharp and even Patrick Kane get time at the point. What does that tell you? Kind of a joke. So let's see.. Not big enough , not physical enough and no pp shot. Time to re shuffle 3 and 4 and roll with Leddy and Monty at 5 and 6 next year .
- ilinkhawk[img][/img]

leddy needs someone alot bigger to pair with. a seabrook size guy that play big and mean

i just dont think stan is up to the challenge but i think firing q will give him one more year. remember stan had to trade scott to get q to not lay him. playing scott is the biggest reason to fire q

The Ranger know what they are....Even with elite skill players like Gaborik and Richards they still go out to win every game 2-1 or 3-2.

Having a great structure, a solid defesne and a world class goal keeper plus one of the better coaches in the NHL gives thm a great chance every night.

AL ,i'm sick to my stomach watching all this hockey then looking at what we have to watch on a nightly basis! just 2 years ago we were on top of the world, now we got a GM that is either bullheaded, blind or doesn't know any better that we need what other teams have, what we had(LADD but yet i'm 1 of the fools that sent in the STH money for next year with another increase!
you were at the presser? what do you think? bowman has something up his sleeve and is playing dumb? or does he believe this was ok this year!
and how in the capitol F does mike kitchen survive another year??
i'm of the mind set, i'm all ears when it comes to anyone except 19,88,81 &7!
for one thing i would like to see john MCD get involved in since he is good at "selling the product" is to get into rick nash's head and convince him chicago and to play along side 19 is the best option for him. then FIND a way to get it done! that is just 1 option! another , since daddy in law is still being taken care of by rocky, have rocky pick up the phone and call dean and say "what do you need for bernier, can we talk ?" THAT is what you call being bold, you tell me AL! you & timmy & JJ usually are right on?? thoughts??

molly, if we're in the game for nash, leddy is definatly a piece i would offer them back among others, sharp ect. ect ect. then get in the game for suter! suter & nash ???nice! but like the old saying on that (especially with this group and we are really screwed if we lose bergy) "wish in 1 hand, crap in the other, and see which 1 fills up 1st!

Will give you another couple of questions that I would ask Bowman about-

Brandon Yip - tough 4th line winger with some skill, cheap contract. Colorado waives him mid season. Bowman passes and Nashville picks him up and Trotz has him out there on his 4th line banging bodies and chipping in a couple of goals.

Kyle Turris - refused to play in Phoenix, hates Tippett's system. Maloney tells the kid you have to come back and if you do I promise to trade you. Kid comes back and gets sent to Ottawa where he fits in right away as a 2nd line center and plays great. Phoenix gets a young defenceman back. Did Bowman pursue anything here - not likely, he doesn't need a #2 C.

I wonder whether there will be a point in the not too distant future when a player like Toews, Keith or Kane go to Bowman and tell him they want out if he isn't prepared to bring in some talent with size that will help the supporting cast instead of a bunch of cheap over the hill guys who can't play and a goalie who really can't cut it as a #1.
I could see a competitive kid like Toews eventually seeing it for what it is. He wants to win.

Watching the Panthers tie it up in the 3rd. Veersteg playing his ass off and Kopeckey playing like Buf in the crease. I hope they pull it off in OT.

they are committed to this concept of big $$$ core and finding players that will "compliment" them.

Hasn't worked for 2 years.....how about the concept of being comitted to "TEAM" like all four teams that have moved on...

and it looks like the caps finally got that message...

Gotta wonder about the disconnects between the players and coaches and coaches and the GM.

You gotta love John Madden....guy's face gets messed up and he's playing with cotton hanging out of his nose....TRUE GAMER. And a valued member of the 2010 Stanley Cup Champs.

One other thing....i'm 44 and remember it well...but any others here remember how Vancouver's goalie Richard Brodeur STONED US in '82. He Mike Smith'd us before Mike Smith did. An absolutely incredible display of goaltending as his team was DOMINATED by the Tomahawk. Believe the Nucks ko'd us in 5 that year.

I wasn't there in person but did listen...

I would try to relax some for now....Something could happen at the Draft but for sure Bowman has to score a lot higher than he did last year on July 1.

There will be a lot of movement...In the West Detroit will have ample cap space and the Sharks could have major changes...

rick or they get tired of players taking runs at them and the hawks have no response

i dont mind kane at center as long as his wings can skate and have bickell size
toews also needs a big wing that can protect

problem is i still dont think stan can admit that his choice of skilled small players doesnt work in this nhl

we also need two big mean defenseman
olsen unless he gets faster is a sixth defenseman at best
