Yea, but nothing about him having already submitted the list, based on the original reports, he has yet to do that. I have a hard time believing he makes that decision over night. - Nastradamus
I think he made the decison while he sat on the bench the last 3 playoff games. Or maybe the week before when the fans booed him out the arena. |

He also has a habit of underpaying... (Lupul, Gardiner, Colborne, Phanuef) just as much as overpaying (Kessel) in trades - senstroll
Indeed. Kessel was a monumental overpayment. 3 draft picks in the top 32 of selections, two top ten picks. I know he didn't know how it was going to turn out, but i mean why not top ten protect it, especially if you expected this team to be better.

Not deciding to ask for a trade, but deciding where he would like to be traded.

Do you think the leak that Luongo wants out takes some of the trade leverage from Gillis? - Cfser
Possibly. It still comes down to simple supply and demand. If Gillis can get a bidding war going then who knows what the end return could be. |

Of course it does, anything Gillis gets for Luongo IMO will be lower than what he's worth.

I would think that knowing you have a NTC and then deciding to request a trade, you have a pretty good idea of which teams would be onthe short list. |

Yup, it's a pretty awful turn of events. You put him in a smaller market, with a good team, I'm certain he leads them to a cup. - Nastradamus
Agreed.
He'd go on 5, 6 game runs where he'd steal 2 by himself and be virtually unbeatable.
Have an average start, and nuck fans would be screaming for his head and schneider to get the call.
Just brutal.
U could even see the exasperation AV had with all of it.

You are probably right, but Gillis is not obligated to trade him. I think if Gillis can get a return that will improve the Canucks in some aspect he will take it, but I don't think he going to take a bath on the deal. |

I'm pretty sure he made the decision to request a trade over the last week or so. Being preoccupied with the playoffs wouldn't have given much time for him to plot which teams he would like to bail too. When you guys finally got eliminated, Luongo tells Gillis that he wants to be traded (this is a decision long time in the making) but it doesn't mean he's had a chance to sit back and really consider where he'd like to go. Players traditionally spend a really long time "mulling it over" it's not a decision they make over night. And from everything I've read, he hasn't submitted the list yet.

Garth Snow needs a 9th goalie. Go Garth Go.
In all honesty, betting on Tampa |

Fair enough, Gillis and Luongo still have a couple of months to figure it out. Luongo giving Gillis a early heads up gives Gillis more time to figure out what he needs to do. |

I think Tampa too but if Tampa has 2 1st RD picks, they may go after M Subban. OR trade for a younger goalie like Bernier/Halak/Elliot/Lindback/Neuvirth (someone closer to Stamkos/Hedman age which are the building blocks).
Everyone also thinks Van is dealing from a position of weakness (which they are), but is not Burke also dealing from weakness? Everyone knows Burke NEEDS a goalie, has said it WILL be addressed and if not addressed and Leafs miss the Playoffs next year because of goaltending, is he not fired??
If Van/Tor wants to deal, it'll be a chess match to see who bends first. |

That and if they are able to bring in another decent player at a different position will improve the team. |

+1.
Im not sure what they can expect?
Hes got a 5+ cap hit for 10 years.
If they take an undesirable contract back, they might be able to get a player of value along with it.
Or
Just getting rid of the contract for basically nothing. Unloading the money IS the value. |

Lu and Nash almost sure trades this summer... Interesting, theres also a good chance Stastny gets traded and Suter/Parise saga plus Weber could be gone...Along with Jordan Staal and anyone on the Sharks could be gone, its gonna get intersting... |

of the 2 leafs proposals he used ...I would pass on both
he also mentioned the Gardiner, MacArthur +1st in the leafs thread...
the trade will fall somewhere below both imo - senstroll
Im pretty sure that was him taking a jab at schenn's value or lack thereof

draft picks are the way to go, or a few prospects who are at a low level earning power |
