The amount of people who did not understand this post is just sad and also why so many people troll on this site.

It's been quite entertaining. Maybe I should have bolded the headers.

Luongo is a great goalie, but I don't want him in Toronto. His world championships, his olympic gold medal, and his career stats speak for itself. The Canucks fans just shattered his passion for that team, which was tremendous at one point.
- Nastradamus

That's another thing with him. His gold medal is irrelevant. Literally more than half of that team was made up of future hall-of-famers. He did nothing. In fact, I thought he was shaky as hell in the gold medal game (which is why it kills me so much that the US couldn't win. )

Wouldn't playing on a new team re-kindle that passion?

Cant really see Van getting a HUGE return for lou under the circumstances. hahaha what a poop show Gillis has created. Almost as bad as BB cept van can win hockey games. Vancouvers like Ottawa in 07' that was there year to win just like 11' was vans to win it and they couldnt do it.
- Mahoney87

No, they're not in as bad a position as the Sharks for example (for them it's time to tear down and rebuild). With Schneider as their goalie, and maybe the addition of a gritty forward that can actually (frank)ing score, they should be alright next year (without Luongo as the go-to scapegoat)

He still did it, it really does make you question the "choker" label everyone's giving him - hockey's a team sport and when your forwards are too busy sliding around the ice instead of scoring goals, you have more than one problem

I think the point of the post was to show all the insane proposals Canucks fans will come up in the next couple of month and then all the other fans proposals aquiring Luongo for a bag of pucks. I think the reality is, the trade will fall somewhere in the middle.
- fiveandagame

of the 2 leafs proposals he used ...I would pass on both

he also mentioned the Gardiner, MacArthur +1st in the leafs thread...

the trade will fall somewhere below both imo

Of course it can, and I think Tampa could be that team. Toronto is going nowhere near a stanley cup over the next 2-3 years, and Luongo has got to know that. What kind of goalie of his caliber doesn't want to win the cup?

With his NTC, he'll make sure he gets close. And I don't necessarily buy these reports of Toronto being one of the teams, how can Toronto be one of the teams if he hasn't submitted the list yet

Lightning have two 1st round picks in 2012, they could trade one of them and their 2012 2nd round pick for Luongo.

I wouldn't give up anything more.

The only way that TB takes on a 10 year contract is if they get rid of Vinny's 10 year contract...Stevie will NOT have both

Great post.

I think if a team could give back a contract or somehow make the term less painful, theres so many teams that would love to have him.

But then theres this ^ to consider as well.
It was clear at one point how much he loved bein a canuck, but Vancouver fans mercilessly scapegoated the guy for so long now.

Proabably, but who knows. Burke's biggest flaw as the GM in Vancouver was that he could never able to find a decent goaltender. What is the Leafs #1 problem right now?

Burke just might bite and over pay. We will see.

Trade Vinny to the Canadiens, they love overpayed vets (see Gomez, Scott).

I have read he requested a trade a couple of days ago during his exit interview

Yea, but nothing about him having already submitted the list, based on the original reports, he has yet to do that. I have a hard time believing he makes that decision over night.

Burke should stay away from Luongo. TML have Scrivens who should be ready in 2-3 years. The Leafs should be contending for a playoff seed by then. He will come up to play as their #1 when they are a winning team. No need to expose a young goalie to a losing environment now.

He also has a habit of underpaying... (Lupul, Gardiner, Colborne, Phanuef) just as much as overpaying (Kessel) in trades

Yup, it's a pretty awful turn of events. You put him in a smaller market, with a good team, I'm certain he leads them to a cup.

They're too small, they have no centers, they have no scorers other than Kessel and Lupul, they refuse to use Nazem Kadri, they have a bad penalty kill, their captain's overrated, they have too many bad contracts and the ownership doesn't do enough to fix their problems. Take your pick.

Do you think the leak that Luongo wants out takes some of the trade leverage from Gillis?
