Does Tampa have the money to pay him so much until he's 40? (it dops-off after this). Sure, it might seem to make sense for Luongo, but does it for a team generating very small revenues and already stuck with the horrible Lecavalier contract?

Niceee, someone else realized it. Unless Vinny goes the other way it just can't happen.

Too funny people keep saying 'Off to Tampa.' For a split second I thought about that too, then actually put some thought into it, which is very lacking throughout this site.

Do you people not realize he's getting $6.7 mill for the next 6 seasons?? How in the world is Tampa going to afford that? Only chance he goes to Tampa is if Vinny is going the other way. You think Van wants Vinny as their 3rd line center?

Vinny will be the 2nd line center after the Canucks trade Kesler for Weber.

Yup...that's how it works. This time for Schneider, Luongo won't be around to take all the blame for the team. Its all on his shoulders now, he'll love it.

this. the bad contract doesn't just disappear without another bad contract coming the other way. Van fans will just replace Lu for Vinny as their whipping boy.

As long as we have a whipping boy to pin every loss on, we are happy.

i can see Vinny going the other way , that's a bad one. i guess if nothing ugly is coming back the other way Van will have to overpay , sweeten the deal a bit.

I feel like we need a blogger to turn all attention to covering just how awful the Melrose's Place segments are on NHL.com... they truly hurt me.

Most of you Nuck fans fail to realise something. Last year when you made it to the finals, what was your goal scoring average and what was your goals against average? Look at those numbers before you spew crap about Luongo not being able to carry your team or win anything. What did you want him to do, go all the way out and score on Timmy? Truth of the matter is, your offense disappears when palyoffs come and no matter what Luongo does, you still can't win games if you don't score. Your core players sucked up front, both lines. And tell me what has your Sneider done to be called great goaltender? Last time I checked he wasn't the one who made Vancouver a force to reckon with in the last 4-5 years. Nor was he the one that took you to one win a way from a cup and your offense and defense did the disappearing act. Sometimes you need to appreciate people that make your franchise relevant and you will come to rue the day when you go back to medicore team once Luongo is gone. Fix your defense, fix your offense then look at your goalie. Don't blame one player for your team's failures that has a lot to do with your offense and defense and a coach who can't utilise his players properly.

he is still a great goalie, the contract isnt that bad only a cap hit of 5.3mil and when he is 38 years old and cant preform he will retire or you cant put him in the AHL. a team well geat a good goalie here and it wont take a whole lot to get him!
- jonathonpeddle

Does he have a NTC or a NMC? Putting him in the minors may not be an option.

Off to Tampa he goes!
- Juice

I am of the opinion Tampa can't really afford his contract. It's not just the 5.3M cap hit, it's the length. They have to sign some players and they have 24m tied up in Lecav, Stamkos, St Louis, Hedman then you add in Lou's it would be pushing 30m for 5 players.

People are forgetting that there's two outs over the next 5 years. Lu option and then the teams option.
