A goaltender imp but until some of the mess(bad contracts) is cleaned up and the leafs find a top line center/ D- help and toughness i'm not convinced Jesus could stop the puck in a leaf net..
Trading for Lou and that nightmare of a contract could backfire in a hurry... - Fruitcakenipple
And because it's the Leafs, it absolutely will backfire in a hurry. |

Ok, but Luongo aside, would you not say adding a goaltender is atop the priority list? - noename09
I would say that Evaluating whetehr or not Reimer or Scrivens have the ability to become starters is our top priority this year.
At the moment, we need to determine whether we are in the market for a stop gap until one of them can take over, or whether or not we full out need a starting goalie for the future,, at which point we begin looking to teams that have a surplus (i.e. if Bernier starts proving he can be a starter too, and LA decides to keep Quick)...
In the mean time, we are not contending for a cup next year, so there is no real need to open up the cupboards to attain a goalie that we may not need.
Maybe do a deal similar to the Vokoun Deal. 1 Year, for a guy that they expect to play 30-40 games sharing the net with Reimer or Scrivens (depending outplays who)...
A guy like Clemmensen, Hedberg, Roloson, etc... would be fine for a 1 year contract imo |

I find it hard to believe both teams agree on his price. - Leafland
This will ultimately be the deciding factor. Depends on how desperate each respective GM is come trade talks. |

I was with you until that last sentance.
Still feel that they should just sign Harding or Vokoun to a 2 year deal and let the youngsters split the starts and whoever plays best, plays. |

Legit starter makes defense look better.
Defense will be one year, more matured.
Carlyle is a defensive styled coach, who forces hard work and grit....could also help. |

Some positives for me, about these "waste of space contracts"....
Komisarek - two years left, could garner interest if plays half decent(hard I know). His salary drops to 3.5 for these last two years, could look better.
Connolly - one year left, actually played more games last year than I thought he would and could still be fine as a 3rd line center for one more year. No biggie.
Lombardi - although hell never be moved, he also only has one year left.
Armstrong - also one year left, but I honestly think he can regain his form is he can stay healthy and has a good summer. Playing under Carlyle, whos system could be more effective for Armstrong, could also help.
So all things considered...we dont have any long contracts that are worrisome for me. - noename09

Both are desperate, here's hoping Burke bullies him and gives up next to nothing. |

Anyone that can mentor for a short period..
I would love to get those guys, but I doubt Harding signs for 2 years, and I doubt we could get vokoun to sign for 1 year again..
Im against the 2 year deal just cause the Connolly deal is annoying at the moment ... Uggggh,, annother year |

I think Luongo will be a great fit on the Leafs if he gets traded there...
But, Leaf fans, don't expect to get him for a couple scrubs. Nobody is taking Lombardi, Connoly, Komi, or Phaneuf....
It's going to cost you a top prospect and a pick or instead of an established player.
I think Joe Colbourne and Schenn for Luongo and Raymond...
Leafs will make the playoffs with that and still have their #1 pick to grab Galeyenchuk - riceroni
I just don't see a deal here.
Kipper and Maclean are 100% right about this. Gillis will not make a soft deal, and Burke is not giving up significant stuff for a conract he hates.
This is going to drag on, for quite a while. It is going to be a big poker game.
In the end, it will be Tampa who trades for him, and Gillis will not get the return he wants. Yzerman will wait him out. |

Burke is going to go hard at Loluongo and probably Nash too... This off season excites and scares me at the same time. I'm hoping that both players wanting out will moderate their price tag if indeed we get them. If these things are going to happen my wish list would be:
-Loluongo for Blacker, Armstrong and a 3rd
-Nash+3rd for Schenn, MacArthur, Kadri, 2nd
-Sign Shultz
-Sign Doan
-Sign Arnott
-Sign Moen
-Pawn off Connolly too some poor team or bury/buy-out.
-Pray you can ship Komi to NYI or anywhere that isnt T.O
Lupul-Bozak-Kessel
Doan-Grabo-Nash
Moen-Arnott-Kulemin
Frattin-Steckel-Brown
Colborne
Phaneuf-Gunnarsson
Franson-Liles
Gardiner-Shultz
Komisarek?
Luongo
Reimer
My NHL12 experiment is done ... and yes it wouldnt work unless both Komi/Connolly are gone, and yes it is wishful thinking...
For the record, I'm not a fan of acquiring Nash or Luongo... just trying to work with that assumption |

You'll get Komisarek+Mueller+2nd and like it. - Leafland
Irregardless I don't think Toronto has ANYTHING the nucks would want...maybe the 5th overall but that's a huge underpayment for a top 20 goalie of all time in this league. Tampa or Florida have better prospects so hopefully we choose to deal with them. |

You dont think Toronto needs a legit starter of Luongos ilk, at the potential price he can be obtained for given the circumstance? - noename09

Another instance of prices being way off. 5th is an underpayment to you, but an overpayment to most Leaf fans. |

Not a freakn chance!!
There is one way, and one way only that Lou ends up in Tampa, and thats if they trade for Vinny. NOT A FREAKN CHANCE Tampa takes on ANOTHER longterm contract! |

I personally don't think Reimer will be, but I think Scrivens is a pretty damn good goalie that has the potential to be a starter...
I'd like to see him get a chunk of games, especially if they go on a run to the Calder cup, or close this year |

Luongo for Lecavalier
Brett Connolly Takes over the #2 centre position
Kesler get's shipped out for a #1 D, Lecavalier takes over the #2 C position
Schnieder becmes VAN goalie, Luongo becomes TB goalie...
