Chicago just blew it because of cap problems, Columbus can't afford him, maybe not Tampa or Florida either

I'll be honest, I'm not sure of the cap problems of most teams. I know TB and FLA whether because of cap or not aren't very financially stable. Chicago and Columbus I don't know much about. That really only leaves Detroit as a team I think would be interested in him.

There's been some good write ups from the usual suspects online. Chicago seems to be backing Crawford, TB would have to ditch Malone to make the money work but I can't see that being a hold up...though Malone does have a NTC, Detroit has Howard. FLA would be a logical choice, but don't they have that Markstrom kid in the wings and he's supposed to be a blue chip. Columbus? I bet Luongo would thrive there if they actually put some defence in front of him. No pressure at all down there, no media circus. Us Toronto fans would eat that (frank)ing guy alive more so than Vancouver ever did, hopefully minus the riots. His cap hit isn't bad, I always thought it was higher...but cripes, 10 years? I'm sure he'll be long gone by the time that it comes to that so you'd get what? 5 or 6 legit years out of him? Will Burke dare go against his holier than thou attitudes about these "illegal deals" with him? I can't see it, but depending on what the cost is, he's the best option out there for a goalie...ewwwwww.

Lou still makes the 5 team list, which means if he picks 4 teams that can't or won't take him, Leafs(if even on it) would be pretty well it.
- Leafland

Is it officially confirmed that the list is 5 teams? I don't think they've said who's on the list.

No, I don't think there's a legit list out yet. So not really sure why some names have popped up already, I think it's still all a lot of hearsay.

I've thought since the beginning that Lou will end up a Capital...his $$$ will replace Semin's $$ and no matter how good Holtby/Neiwirth are, i don't see the Caps basing their cup hopes on those 2 when they can have Lou as a solid goalie foundation for the next 5 years of Ovie's career

It's a VERY interesting situation. The teams that need a goalie for the most part can't afford a goalie like Lou...but at the same time, goalies like him dont' come available often. So maybe even teams that don't NEED a goalie (like Detroit/Chicago). Then there's question marks for teams like St. Louis as to whether their goaltending will continue to thrive or not. Same with Phoenix to a certain point. Ottawa possibly as well.

It's a lot of speculation as to who could use him/who could afford him

I just can't see those teams giving up on the ones they have...not to mention they are a lot cheaper than Luongo. I thought maybe Ottawa as I thought Anderson was on his last year, didnt' even realize he's on the hook for another 3 years.

Um...I think you may have mistakenly read the wrong vowel. It would most likely be an "a" and not an "e".
