haha, true. While I agree Luongo is a good goalie and likely a simple scapegoat in Vancouver. He could still be that scapegoat here. IF we don't re-sign Gustavsson then sure, go for Lou. If we DO re-sign Gus I'd like to stick with him and Reimer (but we've had this conversation before lol).

Luongo is an all-star caliber goalie, no question. I'm just afraid that having him here as the starter could hinder the development of a guy like Reimer who would have to take a back seat for a long time. If it was a 2 or 3 year contract I'd be more willing, but with the length left on Luongo's contract I don't think it would be good for the development of Reimer.

Reimer and Gus?
ARe you mad?

A quality starting goalie and Scrivens should be our tandem next year.
Get rid of Reimer.

First person I've seen that is still wondering if Gus is being resigned.

Well, until the epic collapse in February, Burke was singing the praise of Gustavsson like he was going to re-sign him for 10 years lol. Burke is very high on Gustavsson still. So it wouldn't surprise me. And I still like him as a goalie as long as the defense can smarten up and not let the other team create chances that no goalie can stop. Which happened on a regular basis for both Reimer AND Gus all season.

I think with a more defensive system which would help prevent the unstoppable, both Gus and Reimer would be more than fine. A lot of the goals they gave up were next to impossible to stop.

The Unstoppable? Okay but what about the stoppable that they miss? and no i'm not a bruins fan trolling, I just can't use my other name atm. Apparently my name change suggestion for the rangers wasn't liked that well in the rangers blog.

How can you say this stuff when at the end of the season press conference Burke was unsure if Gustavsson would even be back with the team.

haha no worries.

Well, I have a theory, and it's just that...a THEORY.

Because there were so many unstoppable chances from other teams, the goalie loses some confidence and doubts himself, meaning he lets in soft goals as well. Eliminate the "unstoppable" ones and his number improve quite a bit. Once they improve he likely gets more confidence and plays better and doesn't second guess himself on easy shots and hence lets in less "soft goals". Which in turn ups his stats a bit once again.

Someone argued the opposite with me, and it's valid as well. They said that the defense plays bad and lets the other team have unstoppable chances because they've lost confidence in the goalie and try to do too much. And they've lost confidence in the goalie because he's let in the soft goals.

So it could go either way. It's a "which came first, the chicken or the egg" scenario. I choose to believe the goalies would improve from improved defense once an actual defensive system is properly implemented. I think they'd improve because I've seen both Reimer and Gus play outstanding hockey at times. So I know they're capable of it, whether it can be consistent is the question. I'd like to think it could be with a better overall team game.

1) I didn't watch the end of season press conference

2) After I didn't watch it I didn't see anyone post that anywhere

3) Burke says a lot of things that aren't necessarily true so the media doesn't know what he's up to.

If Gillis could somehow swing a Seabrook for Lou deal. I'd be very happy.

Seabs is the type of player this team desperately needs.

3rd party trade proposal for a fair trade:

Leafs trade Schenn 2013 first and a conditional second if leafs make the playoffs for Lu. Whatcha think?

its not so much that i dont like luongo as it would signify a change in philosophy by managment to bring in a guy his age.. a change i would prefer not to see.. just play the youth and build properly for once.. please.. just once.. its all i ask

No worries man. I'm just complaining cause I can. At least I'm not conversing with myself again like that one time lol.

Things are good. Getting ready for a big movie marathon tomorrow with some friends: Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America as we lead up to the Avengers next weekend which we're going to Moncton to see.

How's things with you?

Honestly, I don't want Lou...but I would probably take that deal. I love Schenn, but that's a REALLY good deal. I honestly think it might be a bit low to be able to get Lou.
