Everyone will be, either Loloungo gets sold for dirt cheap, or Vancouver has the dynamic duo in net again come October.
- Leafland

they'll still have the duo no matter WHAT asEddie Lack is Pekka Rinne V2.0 and has apprenticed and dominated like Schneider before him. He's 15additional lbs away from the backup gig in Vancouver. Lu's GONZO.....100%

Ohhh I totally caught that.

It's probably best for the longevity of your life that you don't have that kind of money.

I think certain teams can "afford" to take on/sign longterm contracts....but when you have Vinny signed until 2020 @ $7.7M...... another longterm contract wont happen.

- noename09

Yep there teams that only care about cap hit but they not lining up to land Lou..I certainly have a hard time believing that TB management/ownership interested in paying $6.7 per for Lou...

Ya, i just think Vokoun is not a better option, he will cost less, but he didnt impress me with the Caps.

There is common sense and good judgment ....just saying.

...and would it be out of the realm of possibility to imagine a GM having a conversation with Lou about his intentions?

- The Law

If you are referring to Burke (or GM of another team) askign Luongo before they traded for him, then I'd say yes, it is. Actually, it's illegal.

Leafs would be better off going after Harding or someone via free agency. Lu is a good tender, better than Riemer for sure, but will cost a lot to get him and has an ugly contract to be stuck with.

I think Tampa is the only real possibility for a destination for Lu. Don't have to move as much money out (compared to Toronto) to fit him in and they have no goalie to speak of going forward, which will make them more desperate than other teams, thus probably creating the most desirable package going Vancouver's way.

- Gord_Wilson_2.0

Maybe they would but Burke HAS to WIN NOW.....Thomas or Luongo are IT...not a maybe AGAIN. No more gambling. If he hasn't finally learned with Cloutier forever and now the Reimer/toothless Monster he AND leaf nation deserves what they get....Tampa makes common sense for Lu but he's fierce as poope. He's viewing Tdot as his ultimate statement, and he WILL deliver a playoff if burke has balls....I'll bet my hockeybuzz membership for LIFE on him taking you to the playoffs if he's dealt there........

When Scrivens wins goalie of the year he will be good enough to be the Leafs #1?

just including teams on his list says his intentions. Anyone knows Luongo knows he wants to win at all costs.Plus all the prospective gm's have to do is ask for permission before a deal and they can talk til their blue in the face....

...totally. For you and I ...not much we wouldn't do for a million bucks. For Louie though ....I gotta think it's a different story.

Also, I just can't picture Luongo as a back up ...like Lohaus said he's ultra competitve so I think he'd prefer to retire rather then play back up.

Including teams on his list only suggests he wants to play, it doesn't indicate anything about how long. The teams he picked suggest less about competitiveness and more about lack of starting goaltending.

And asking permission always comes at a cost as well.

Oh for sure ...BB should use that card in any negotiation. But internally he (and everyone else) knows full well that the contract is a perverbial "retirement contract". It's a dinosaur of a contract. One milly won't be enough to get Luongo to even consider washing his jockstrap let alone staying in shape, going through a preseason, working his ass off all year, and likely playing backup .....at age 39.

I think he ends up in TBay anyway.

- The Law

Good post... I was tired of ppl trying to make the contract what it's not and you arguing with them.

hell no, Lack is now a viable number 2 on a deep team like Vancouver. You put Scrivens as good as he's been in a 1 or 2 role next season in TDot and he'll get chewed up. Put him in Vancouver and he too is a viable #2 option. He's still at least 2 seasons away from a bonafide #1 at the NHL level. Look at Holtby. He's won everywhere he's been like schneider. There's walking the walk your entire career and having a hot season in front a well coached deep team......Lacks got 2 strong ahl seasons now as well as the swedish league before that. Scrivens has played strong now as well and looks like an nhl keeper. But there's a big step up from a schneider/Holtby from a lack/ scrivens....

Jeffrey Vinik is the owner ...or majority. He's also in on the Red Sox and Liverpool FC. They'll spend to win now.

lol...thats a bit much...but I could ((actually)) see Vinny being traded to Vancity for Lou.

Helps out both teams with "players", but dosnt help either with contracts.

Vinny could be very useful in Vancouver, especially if they want to move Kesler.

are you forgetting Rask for Raycroft (Bruins rape), Kessell for Sequin, Hamilton and Knight (Boston multiple gang rape), Colbourne for Kaberle (Bruins win cup so another big time rear entry up the choochoo of Leaf nation). To suggest for a SECOND that THomas (another AMERICAN with good history with Burke (in MASSIVE job preservation mode)) has no chance in ending in TDOT, well dream on. As long as it's not for your 1st, him and Luongo are thee ONLY choices and chances to save Burke's job. Luongo's the smarter play cause he'll do for Reimer what he did for Schneider (where as Timmy's pissed off Rask so bad that Rask has stated either he's #1 next year or he either demands a move or he'll go back to finland and NOT REPORT to training camp). Burke of course will go with the guy as arrogant as he is AND probably give away the 1st in another never ending gift basket to the b's, his future job.......
