Its crazy how people speak about Luongo as if he's Gustavsson or something?....
Listen, people, the only negative thing about Luongo is that hes 33 and signed for 10 years. His cap hit is good, his career numbers are good, he plays with passion and can handle the media. - noename09
Brodeur's career numbers are good... we should get Brodeur |

I dont know if I can either....
but that was my UG impression...thats his strategy
If we could guarantee the #1 pick I could suffer through it again...but for another 5-10th pick ...
- senstroll
If you can guarantee me a top 5 pick I think I could handle it, its the pressures of failing and not getting anything out of the season AGAIN that scares me. |

Exactly. From a Sens perspective, if the Leafs added Luongo I wouldnt be happy, and I'd hope they gave up a lot for him, but people are foolish if they think he doesn't improve their team heavily. Some of this talk like Luongo is an ECHL goaltender are getting old. I am of the opinion he is on the downside of the peak of his career, but he hasn't declined to the point he is a useless goalie. The contract is the only issue with acquiring this man, nothing else. |

Seems to be a lot of Leafs fans proposals FOR getting him.
Doug MacLean said it best when he said Luongo will be getting a pretty good return... he then laughed at everyone suggesting Vancouver would have to take Komisarek or another bad contract.

More like a bunch of propsals to dump sh1tty contacts for him.
I don't want him unless we can buy him out under cap relief and sign him for 3 years cheap. |

For the cap numbers to work...they will have to take something back from TO.
Toronto would be dumb to take a 50 million dollar contract risk and not give some back 4.5 x 2 = 9 million.
Doug Mc. is a genius though

I wonder if Luongo can stop those two as well as Frank D'Angelo does? |

Ya but they are all asinine. We know they are going to demand something exorbitant for him and we HOPE its not paid for by Toronto. |

The cap numbers still have to match up in the end...and besides, one bad contract for another is a given...it depends on who else is involved |

I don't think they'll get much for him. They will not have many places he is willing to go, and the fact that Kipper may be available will lower his value on the market.

He's a better actor than either so he has that going for him. Why that commercial is promoted on the CBC's cash cow is beyond my comprehension. |

I fully agree that the "price" will be more than what a few think...but less than what others think as well. You need to consider the situation that Vancouver has themselves in that:
a) Luongo has a "list"
b) most teams interested cant afford to take on his contract
c) theres a few teams Vancouver might not be able to trade with due relations or existing contracts(Toronto/NJ/Tampa)
All things considered, who ever does land Luongo, I would be hard pressed to believe they will end up paying his true "worth". |

Plus the fact Schiender is a RFA and can hold out until Lou is dealt. If they risk taking him to arbitration they risk signing him for 1 year and him walking away as a UFA. |
