Luongo would be a hero at first, because he's an improvement over who they have now, but in the long run, it doesn't make sense. At 33, with his contract and his inability to handle pressure, he would get eaten alive in Toronto. A hero honeymoon followed by a villainous divorce. Just like Vancouver but worse.

Burke is desperate but working a deal out with Gillis isn't likely. Plus, it's against most of what Burke has said. And Luongo would be a fool to want to come to Toronto. He wants to be in Tampa Bay or Florida.

That's the beautiful part. Tampa Bay dumps Lecavalier in Montreal after their French GM and their French head coach do all they can to repair their broken relationship with the French fan base. Money is no object in Montreal and they could pay off his contract with jersey sales in a matter of five years.

I don't see Florida wanting him but Luongo wants them, especially since they're a playoff team now. Plus, Dale Tallon doesn't seem to care. He took Campbell, he can take Luongo.

What can I say. In terms of rivalries, I don't like the Habs, and I'm not fond of the rest of them. But once the Leafs are out, I could really care less about who's left, so I just root for the underdog most often.
