He will retire before he's 40, so it's basically 7 years. I highly doubt hell play till 43 he just wanted 12mil in his first 2 seasons which he already got, hes not going to play his last seasons from 500k - 1mil. Look at Kovalchuk his contract is untill hes 44 do you really think hell play till then 44?

This is why I don't buy the long contract BS... Luongo is a top NHL goalie and if we can land him for a respectable package I make the trade. Burke is against long deals but he didn't sign the deal, he traded for it.

I would suspect Lupul would have to be going the other way and scary to see him with the Sedins.

Would I do it... YES

We can try and replace Lupul with Parise, Nash etc....

he refuses to circumvent the cap... how is he doing that by trading for the contract and not signing it. He's acquiring the player that already has the contract.

Same as Phaneuf... would Burke of signed him to 6.5 after his EL contract??? doubt it.
