Im cool with that. I like the LB idea better in the 1st round but really at this point just get me a god damned starter in the first round that actually makes some kind of impact. I dont even care what position. Spiller, McKelvin, Maybin, Whitner, McCargo, Losman, etc... none of which were impact players and most didnt even start. In Spiller's case, he doesnt start, nor was he a need.
Nice to see you mhp - Gunner Staal
They like that LB from BC too, guy is a tackling machine from what I read.
Nice to see you as well Gunner.

Avatar change. Didn't notice you.
I'm in love with getting Ronnie Lott plugged in to our 'D' for the next 12 years or so. I also love the linebacker from 'Bama too.
I'll die if they trade up to get Kalil and waste the 2nd rounder. Too many OT's don't pan out while SOOOOO many later round OT's DO pan out. I also question wasting a pick on offense considering Fitz is not the guy to win it all. |

I feel naked without Al, but it's the off season.
It seems to me Barron is the guy and I hope they hang on to the 2nd.

Watching the Bruins get tossed out in the first round priceless ! 2 things Held by Holtby and watching Tim Thomas and the way he played this series reminded me of how Miller plays.High risk and like the comentators often said just hold him an extra second or bounce it off the wall and hell lose his net.Id like to see Miller watch some tape of Holtby and hows hes technically sound and confidant not arrogant and high risk when he plays. |

Lets get some analysis in here
Shea Weber - 19g, 30a, 49pts, 78games, 230 shots, 177hits,140Blockedshots
Goals allowed per 60 minutes on ice : 2.04
Shots allowed vs Shots done by team while player was on ice(also known as CORSI) : -0.90
Relative CORSI( Weber's shots allowed vs shots done by opposing team MINUS the preds shots allowed vs shots done by opposing team) : 11.2
Quality of Competition : 0.067
Primary assists per 60 minutes: 0.39
Secondary assists per 60 minutes: 0.23
-------------------------------------
Erik Karlsson - 19g,59a,78pts, 81 games, 261shots,60hits,65blockedshots
Goals allowed per 60 minutes on ice : 2.54
Shots allowed vs Shots done by team while player was on ice(also known as Corsi): 12.68
Relative CORSI(shots allowed vs shots done by opposing team MINUS the preds shots allowed vs shots done by opposing team) : 11.3
Primary assists per 60 minutes: 0.66
Secondary assists per 60 minutes: 0.52
Quality of Competition: 0.047
-------------------------------------
Zdeno Chara - 12g,40a,52pts, 79games, 224shots,166hits,87blockedshots
Goals allowed per 60 minutes on ice : 2.33
Shots allowed vs Shots done by team while player was on ice(also known as Corsi): 17.50
Relative CORSI(shots allowed vs shots done by opposing team MINUS the preds shots allowed vs shots done by opposing team) : 13.0
Quality of Competition: 0.089
Primary assists per 60 minutes: 0.44
Secondary assists per 60 minutes: 0.64

Sadly i don't have the Penalty kill numbers, but i know Karlsson didn't fare that well in the PK and actually wasn't playing that much on the PK, especially compared to Chara. So bonus points to Chara and Weber for penalty killing.
-------------------------------------
What does all that jumbo mumbo stats mean?
For Weber: The striking thing about Weber is that when he's on the ice, the preds have allowed more shots then given, which is very surprising. Bonus points for shot blocking i guess, but i thought this was very interesting. It makes sense as Nashville is in the bottom 10 for shots allowed. However Shea has the lowest goals allowed per 60 minute which is definitely a stat to take in account.(but then again he has rinne)
For Karlsson: Highlighted the goals allowed per 60, which is high for a Norris candidate. While his team does do more shots then receive when he's on the ice, it doesn't change the fact that when he's on the ice, goals got scored, and what doesn't help is resume is that Karlsson had the weakest competition. Of course, the upside of karlsson is obvious: 78pts, and the more then half of his assists are primary(which tend to have slighty more value then secondary assists for defenseman)
For Chara: Chara had the toughest competition, yet the best shots allowed vs shots done of all 3. Defensively i can say clearly he's the best of all 3, but offensively he is the weakest of all 3(i would put him behind Pietrangelo and Byfuglien as well purely in terms of offense)
--------------------------------------
Final verdict - hard to say. Goaltenders come in to mind as well. Weber had a Vezina GK, Chara had a great GK and Karlsson had a good GK. Weber was 2nd best in Offense and 2nd in D. Karlsson 1st in O and 3rd in D. Chara was 3rd in O and 1st in Defense.
I haven't spoken about the quality of teamates as well, with Weber having an EXCELLENT partner, Chara a great partner and Karlsson a good partner.
If you take all in all in terms of average, Chara would win it as he didn't have a vezina-like-thomas, not a norris-like-partner, was the best defensively of all 3 and still managed to put up 50 points.
However, Weber is more well rounded and Karlsson is clearly the best offensively in the league.
The league is in dire need of having a ''defensive defenseman trophy'' and ''offensive defenseman trophy''...
edit: On a side note, i haven't looked at Pietrangelo's number but im sure they would be up there was well. i don't know which of these guys he should replace, but i wouldn't be surprised if his numbers were better then all of these guys above.
Not by me .. http://hfboards.hockeysfu...read.php?t=1178009&page=4
