That would only hurt Bossy's goals/game numbers if he played longer. Lemieux retired the first time with more pts/game than even Gretzky. - Gunner Staal
Wrong at the time Mario 1st retired in 97
Gretz had 2705 pts in 1335gp for a ppg avg of 2.026
Mario had 1494 pts in 745gp for 2.005 |

Up to thousandths of a goal-
This is intense.
I'll still take Howe.
He would just keep slapping you as he crossed the blue line.
Neely was another animal: his #'s might not be there, but he would put his forearm in front of him and push you out of the way like Jerome Bettis while dragging the puck with his other hand.
Those are guys I'd build around any day. |

too many variables outside of statistics to be claiming absolutes, imo |

I find it crazy that Gretzky scored his 1st 1000 in 424gp
He scored his second 1000 in 433gp.
Then had 857 in his last 630gp. |

Not when claiming one player had a higher ppg avg than another player at the time of his 1st retirement.
(not picking on you Gunner)
Just saying there's no variables in that. |

Put three statisticians in a white room for two minutes.
Ask them what color the room was.
You'll get three different answers-

Slowly but surely, no matter how good you are, teams "figure out" how to play against you. They'll never be able to stop you, and you will still cause a lot of damage, but, with scouting, someone usually finds a way to limit it. Hence, the variables Boos was talking about. That and you get older. |

The only variable there is, that in a rare case, my stats were wrong. |

Age was the only factor in that IMO.
At 37 he had 90pts 4th in the league.
At 38 his body was shot and only had 63. |

Depends, in this fantasy is Orr still injury prone? - dadeadhead
theres a difference between being injury prone, and having defensemen take two handed whacks at your knee every time you skate by. If they only knew how to operate on knees back then....

Yeah but they're not new to me.
I've had them for 2 months now.
Not a fan of Black Box.
