Just to start a new topic....Wondering where Jerry Sullivan is with his you don't need a top goalie to be successful in the playoffs.....look at the final eight, three Vesnia finalists; Brodeur (NJ), and Flyers goalies, all highly paid top goalies.... - JoeSabre
Mie Schopp agrees with that too...I remember him last year...." Philly went to the finals agianst Chicago without a great goalie..."
Quick will get a huge raise....Just like Miller got .. So will Holtby if he contunies to play like this, Elliott and Halak are products of the system St.Louis plays.
Thomas last year was the 1st Elite goaltender to win the cup post lockout. - dadeadhead
last off-season, the philadelphia flyers--poster-child for the cheap goaltending roulette wheel--went with a bonafide #1 starter...at the behest of chairman ed snider

So is smith and Quinn carrys the same salary next year.
Like I said untill he gets his raise which isnt til 13/14, LA isn't paying top dollar for top goaltending.

and he's looked like poop the entire season.
Fleury doesn't turn into swiss cheese in the 1st round, Philly's playing golf right now.

It goes both ways, you dont need to pay for great goaltending when you have guys like Quick, Smith and Holyby playing like they are, but you NEED great goaltending to win the Cup.

Cam Ward?
Tim Thomas, Fluery is pretty close to elite, Giguere was pretty close to elite in 2007, - sbroads24
Ward wasn't elite at the time and sure wasn't getting paid for it(el contract)
Fleury wasn't getting paid for it
Niemi wasn't getting paid for it
Osgood wasn't getting paid for it
Giguere hasn't been elite post lockout
Thomas I already said he was the 1st elite goaltender to win the cup post lockout.

You need ride a hot goaltender to win the cup. Salary matters not.
Top center play (only 5 teams since expansion have won the cup without top #1 center)

Ward is an Elite goalie, so is Fluery, wether they were getting paid for it or not makes the statement that Thomas is the only "elite" goalie to win the cup since the lockout false. Giguere had a 1.87 GAA in the playoffs and had a great year in Anaheim in 2007 and 2008. He was elite for 3 yrs after the lockout, GAA of 2.12, 2.26, and 2.64 with 10 shutouts and 115 wins.
