my guess was they were figuring that there was 4 guys they liked and expected 2 of them to be there
the safety and lb were gone so it came down to gilmore or the notre dame wr
gilmore was the safe pick - homiedclown
other than possibly tannehill being a reach, nobody did anything stupid in the nine picks before buffalo...which is unusual

Cleveland gave up what, a 4th a 5th and a 7th rounder to move up 1 spot ? Minny was never going to take Richardson so unless another team was going to sweeten the pot further there was no risk in staying where they were. Then they drafted a QB that should arguably be starting his 5th or 6th season.
Holmgren has tainted that organization.
I also question Dallas moving up that far to pick the CB. I forget what they gave up but if they were moving up that far they should have tabbed Barron.
Yeah from what I hear its deep at that position this year. I can only go by what others say though. - Gunner Staal
if martin is gone--cleveland should snap him up for the right side--there's really no reason for the bills to take a tackle in the second round...
ideally, jenkins falls to them and they have the opportunity to trade down and grab an extra pick in the second or third round...best scenario would be philadelphia trading both their seconds to move up

To me it is clear that the Browns were afraid of somebody else moving up ahead of them and after what happened with RGIII I can understand their fears. HOWEVER, I always think that is is foolish to take the RB position that high up. Cleveland has plenty of needs and RB's are consistently found in late rounds and on the free agent market. Jim Brown is probably not too happy that the Browns traded up to take him after his comments yesterday.

I think the general opinion is that the best CB in the draft as a rule outranks the best safety in the draft.

I always agree that the CB outranks the Safety but I think this guy is the real deal. It remains to be seen but the video I've seen on this guy and all the mock drafts I've been reading for months now really points to Barron being a guy you can plug in the middle for a decade. He's such a ferocious hitter and really mart. All the pundits are comparing him to Ronnie Lott, Ed Reed and Polamalu.
This was the first draft I can remember where I was heartbroken when a team ahead of us got 'The Guy'. When Goodell read off his name I smacked myself in the knee and swore. My wife was like 'what's wrong ????'

He's gonna be a good one. - Pairo11
I don't disagree, he would have been nice to have. I like that they did not trade up though. More picks the better in the Bills situation. I would like to think that Nix can find some good players with them.

That's the one saving grace. If they would have traded up and picked Kalil I would have wanted to blow up their war room. I was also happy they didn't pick the WR Floyd too.
Receivers and Running Backs that are functional to really solid are available later in this draft.

There always are.
Running backs as my own personal rule, are a dime a dozen. You dont need high profile RB's to be successful. I know the Pats havent won a Super Bowl in a while but they do come close quite a bit, who are their stud RB's?
Green Bay used a University of Buffalo RB, James Starks
Colts had Dominic Rhodes/Addai when they won
Hell the Steelers had Willie Parker for two Super Bowl wins who only got noticed for torching the Bills as a third stringer.
Giants had Bradshaw who is a 7th rounder, Jacobs who is a 4th rounder
The Saints used Bush who was a #2 overall pick but he was a complimentary player for them, not the main horse.
I detest that the Bills have used 33% of their first round pick the last 10 years on a position like RB.

Off topic: the NJ/FLA game was some pretty entertaining stuff last night.
