The problem here is that you somehow believe that it diminishes the things you mention. Track And Field are events. Golf is a game. Does not mean they are any less difficult or any less respectable.

I don't know I think I have to side with Bodiva on this MB. Track and Field are sports, they require athletic ability, same with golf.

Maybe you can make the case they don't involve direct competition with the opposition, that they are a different category of athletic sports that is fine, but they should still fall under the category of sports.
