Panther fans are gonna have a fun time in Newark tonight

I can't believe the president of an NHL team is acting like such an idiot on Twitter. Absurd hahah

Yeah, let's show them how real bumholes act at sporting events.

I am not bringing up officiating. I am just saying. Parise said he got lucky on a couple saves, it was probably the truth. He probably asked if he thought the Devils did enough to score. It wasn't like he said he got lucky the entire game, he said he got lucky on a couple saves. Your blogger completely skewed that and wrote it to where we would think Parise said he was lucky on all or most of his saves.

EDIT: I would never use officiating as an excuse, but there has been some horrid and questionable calls, in game five, there was a couple of like the "come on now, really" calls that they usually let go but not start calling. That's where some fans might get frustrated.

- _Zippy_

They are calling stuff that would be fine in the regular season but this is playoff hockey. That's the problem. The Refs are dictating flow of play. They are treating this series like some of the others where the players were trying to kill each other. This series has been respectful and nobody is getting their head knocked around. The Refs need to see that these teams aren't dirty and let them play.

I don't doubt it was the truth and I find no fault in Parise speaking the truth if that precedent had been set by his opponent. Marty had a great game 4. Did he get lucky on some? Sure. How did Weiss reply? Pretty much said Marty played great and they just couldn't find a way to get one past him. In the grand scheme it matters not to me, these guys are professionals. I was just offering the blogger's perspective as I see it.

The officiating comment was an aside to an earlier post, probably not yours. I probably made it confusing since you did not approach that topic. As a gesture of good faith you can win the opening faceoff.

honestly, can't we all agree that EVERY team and EVERY fan will whine on occasion? This whole "you whine more than we do" stuff is beyond ridiculous!

Funny, I find it incredible how anyone associated with the Panthers whether it be GM, player, blogger, fan or otherwise can comment about the Devils whining after some of the stuff I read on here after game one

Have to agree with you there. Part of the problem for Panthers fans was the idyllic picture we all painted in our minds that our team would win their first game back in the playoffs after more than a decade. Fairy tale crap!

The Devils showed up and thoroughly dominated us for 20 minutes. Sure the 'call' led to 2nd goal, but it had nothing to do with the 1st goal or the 3rd goal nor the 26 shots we allowed on our goalie. To think otherwise is just silly.

Probably see about 50 or so. We like to make sure home teams sell their tickets to their own fans. Plus we are generally a humble bunch after years of cellar dwelling.

Blah, blah, blah. Who cares about all the small change? Yes, the statement was made by Parise in a video interview I saw, and yes, Marty was quoted as complaining about the rats, and yes, we whined about the Matthias call in game one and you guys whined about the calls since, and our owner (like a lot of others) is a piece of work that we all shake our head at.
BUT WHO CARES.
This is a big game tonight for both teams and I will tell you as a Panther fan who did not even expect to be in the playoffs at all this year that I am nervous about the remainder of the series for us. I will be on the edge of my seat hoping Clemmer can pull this off and that Tyson plays well again. The Devils are a solid team with a first line that scares the hell out of me and Elias scares me even worse than a hall of fame goalie who shut us out in game 4.
This series could go to anyone, I hope beyond hope we pull it out tonight. As for the rest, I could give a crap.

You guys have to start showing up for Isles Panthers games at the Coliseum. We expect all away teams fans to come and fill our arena up

Panthers have had a great season. Something tells me we aren't going to recover from this game and lose on Thursday. We've been a cursed organization and I don't think our time is now. Devils have the edge and if they come out storming and take the lead in game 7 don't expect this team to come back, they would be finished at that point.

Hope we win, please prove me wrong and actually pull this off.

Go Panthers!

Last night was the third game of the series I have watched and it is easily the strangest series of all of them. The intensity level in these games are so much less than everywhere else, its almost like it isn't playoff hockey. The violent hits, the relentless shot blocking, the constant battles where guys look like they are playing their last shift are just not common here where as they are pretty much in every game of the other series. Just odd.

It's true that the games aren't very physical but it's been very tightly checked. When every somebody has the puck there is somebody on them instantly. There really hasn't been anywhere to move for either team.

I understand what you are saying, but I believe that the way the playoffs have gone this year has altered our sense of what is "intensity." Both teams are actually pouring it all out on the ice but both teams are desperate, let me emphasize that: desperate to stay out of the penalty box, so we see very little in the way of post whistle nastiness (look at Upshall last night, he got nasty and got sent to the box) or cheap shots that might turn into a penalty. You can see these guys trying to antagonize but guys who would have taken the bait in the regular season, such as Gudbranson, are skating away. Articles around here have noted that Jovo is leading this team with advice to stay composed.

What you are witnessing is intense hockey by two teams filled with veterans who are being coached to stay disciplined. The Panthers are simply not good enough to pull off antics like the Flyers can and they know it. Finally, there is no natural rivalry between these teams so there was no pre-existing hatred. In many ways I think the Washington-Boston series is somewhat similar with a bit more animosity... than again, that cost Washington Backstrom for a game so I do not expect to see that stuff again.

I am enjoying the hockey, when the Panthers win!

I get that they are playing hard, I do, and I get that they are playing a tight checking style of game. I guess the thing that I am seeing so much in the Sens series is guys throwing themselves at pucks to not let them through and finishing every check. Guys have no time to do anything witho being drilled. Part of it might be the way the series is being officiated though. Part of it also might be the Panthers being lights out on the PP so far that the Devils just wont take the chance.

btw what was Upshall thinking last night? Was he watching highlights of the Sens/Rags or the Flyers/Pens and felt left out?

Panthers were laying out all over the ice to block shots, Smithson went in face first on one. At the same time, not a good idea against Jersey's skill: how many times last night did a Panther lay out only to have Jersey fake the shot and move around him? Too many.

As for the Ottowa/NY series, lot of nasty hitting I guess. Suspensions. Review of the use of a skate. Low scoring. I have enjoyed the series but take out the stuff I just mentioned and its a rather bland low scoring affair, and I am not saying that to be cruel or to simply lash back at you, I say it because (as widely noted) the Rangers cannot score goals and if the teams were not a 1-8 seed match-up, not filled with tantrums and suspensions and review, and not the Rangers it would be getting the same level of attention and dis-respect as the NJ-FLA series.

However, this is going to be the advantage for whatever team comes out of this series. Nobody on the Devils, at least yet *knocks on wood*, has any serious injury from these playoffs, or at least one prohibiting them to play.
